Copenhagen, Denmark

I had a wonderful trip to Copenhagen, despite a few frustrations. There was a lot of construction going on, making it hard to get around at times. They are building new metro stations, and there are many new developments going up. Plus, my wife fell and broke her toe while we were biking there, which put a damper on the trip. Nonetheless, the city has a lot of beautiful areas, and I'd be curious to see how different it looks when all the construction is finished.

I'll start with some "skyline" pics.

All of the above pics were taken from the steeple of the Vor Frelsers Kirke (Church of Our Savior). It offers some of the best views of the city, but it's not for the squeamish: it gets very narrow toward the top, and you can feel it sway in the breeze.

Very touristy, but the Nyhavn area is still the most beautiful part of the city.

Other street scenes

Obligatory Little Mermaid shot.

Never understand what so much fun in Copenhagen, even the country is boring, and Copenhagen is the capital of it.

Great pics! Copenhagen is a very popular place to go for us here in southern Sweden, especially here in Malmö. Denmark is much more continental then Sweden. Outdoor pubs, restaurants, night clubs, malls and international stores etc. Did you cross the bridge to Sweden? Even though Copenhagen has lots of modern buildings u/c most parts of the charming old city will be unchanged. Copenhagen is really a biking city, too bad your wife had this accident.

We took a train from Stockholm to Copenhagen. I only saw southern Sweden from the train window. I found that Copenhagen had a more cosmopolitan and post-industrial feel compared to Stockholm. I was surprised how different they were.
