Meet the world's best skyline ... even with Downtown missing.

The distant island by Tony Shi., on Flickr

Number of supertalls in that pic: 6. From left to right: NYTT, ESB, BofA, One57, Chrysler, 432 PA.

The official building permits have One Manhattan West at 1,004 ft., so that's the correct number (unless there are future revisions to the permits).

Very nice. Another 1000' for the collection. Unprecedented is all I gotta say about this boom and permit frenzy.

That area in Shenzhen though will be all city in a couple of years. That massive dirt lot looks like the site of the planned Longgang City.

A better approximation which includes u/c and if the current proposals go through is this:

^ I know that my example was pretty extreme and somehow unfair. Unfortunately many of those megatall projects in Shenzhen won't be built due to height restrictions and other problems. But that is another topic.

Talk about sci-fi in real life.... The cluster in the background is just ridiculous when you add it to the current towers going up like Ping Ang.

Many of the supertalls depicted are actually in the demo/excavation stage. They are bound to rise, but some of them have been at the excavation stage for two years. Its seems that they build first, then get a tenant later. If we look at the far back of that pic to the left (near the bridge), that is where the master planned expansion will occur. A whole residential and commercial city for one million plus. But anyways, this thread is for NYC.

One Vanderbilt is now 1,514 feet!

A little hard to see, but the figures are in the diagram. Using control + mousewheel on larger resolution screens might help.

New Wallpaper. Lovely shot, best I've seen in a while when it comes to aerials. Also, notice how much Flushing has grown. We can also see LIC, and the growth that has occurred there. In a couple of years, that cluster will have the density of DoBro.

^ Yeah, LIC is somehow flying under the radar. Lots of construction going on there. Jersey City is booming too, same with DoBro. Man, there is so much development going on, one could spend all day long here on SSP by just following New York projects ...

I am pretty sure downtown Brooklyn is building more than LIC, or am I mistaken? Would be nice to see side by side comparison, unfortunately there are no borough specific diagrams as far as I am aware.

While at the moment yes (In terms of towers u/c at the moment), LIC has many projects in the pipeline, and major developments which are just starting up or will in the next couple of years. Most of these are approved, and just awaiting financing, If we look at the area in a general overview, it has the potential to eclipse DoBro. Cheaper land, open lots, and the potential for many more high rises/skyscrapers. Its essentially an extension of Midtown East, only on the other side, and the future looks bright for LIC as a refuge from the insane prices that Manhattan commands both when it comes to office, hotel, and residential.

Flushing, Queens might I add also goes under the radar. Lots of high rises have gone up recently, and are planned. Its a city within a city essentially.

It seems that 432 Park Avenue has topped out.

CTBUH:

I'll update the first page. New York welcomes its 7th supertall. Also, the city has now 60 towers over 200m completed / topped out.

7 supertalls currently standing, and 7 more just in the site preparation stage. Double the fun!
