from some angles, . . this weird little trifle . .
is definitely gonna set some average everyday tongues . .
a-waggin' . . a little conversation piece . .
for those bored out of their gourd . .
every ignoramus is gonna be puttin' in their precious 2 cents . .
especially at those idyllic tribeca-loft rooftop barbecues . .
invitations welcome . .

Cladding Nearing Completion at 56 Leonard Street in Tribeca

Quote:
Recent photos from our Forum reveal the state of progress at 56 Leonard Street, the 57-storey, Hines-developed, Herzog & de Meuron Architekten-designed, residential tower now under construction in the heart of New York's Tribeca neighbourhood in Lower Manhattan. With most of the exterior glass cladding now installed, the distinct asymetrical series of cantilevered units and balconies have now taken shape, and the full effect of the tower's unique silhouette is now clearly visible on the Manhattan skyline.

I think the base is one of the strongest features of this great building. I work nearby and walk by it all the time. The use of solid, unbroken glass panels, the large floor height, and the massive cantilevers create a solid and fascinating base for what soars above. These bottom seven floors appear as a distinct section of the structure and do a marvelous job of attracting our eyes at street level. The Kapoor sculpture will make it even better.

Hey, everybody! First post; love the forum!
Perhaps it's just the lighting in this pic, but the cladding at the base of the tower looks clear like the original renders. Perhaps a protective film has been removed on some of the lower floors. Anybody know?

chris, your June 24th shot is very cool . .
makes it look like 56 Leonard is the best-biggest tower in town . .

Got Ham, . . "Posts: 1 " . .
that'll probably change fast . .
no clue how to answer your question. .
but welcome to the forum . .
