By the time they're done with it, Salesforce will overtake the building and the glass will be almost all the way up there.

By then, maybe they could shift the workers from Salesforce over to 181.

Yes, all of those giant steel girders must be welded before they can take on more weight. If you look at the previous page pics you can see how much they have to do.

Only two weeks? It's beginning to feel as though they are delaying the residential portion.

a boiling kettle...

a couple of things never discussed:
the origin and production of the source materials
and the offsite location where the building and materials are staged.

i doubt there is anything to a slowdown.

remember: a watched kettle never boils.

I walked by yesterday and they were hard at work on-site, both in curtain installation and up top. I'm sure there are some complexities up there we down here don't know about.

On average, 181 Fremont was rising approximately one floor every 7 days, before the transition from commercial floors to residential floors. It's been 19 days since they've placed the ceiling of the first residential floor. And I don't believe the ceiling is done yet.

For comparison, Salesforce Tower is rising exactly one floor every 4 days. Specifially, the outer forms of Salesforce Tower are rising one floor every 4 days, with the steel not far behind it.

Check my math, because I could always be wrong.

Since April 9, the outer forms have risen 22 times.

The last time, was July 6.

That's 88 days.

88 / 22 = 4.0

So, according to my math, that is 4 days per rise of the outer forms, which rises exactly one floor each time.

FYI, the 22 times' elapsed days are:

5, 3, 3, 3, 4, 3, 9, 2, 3, 4, 3, 4, 7, 3, 4, 3, 5, 5, 4, 3, 3, 5

The residential portion is not delayed, but I'll admit I was secretly hoping 181 would lay claim to SF's 2nd tallest building, even if just for a few weeks. Now that doesn't appear likely.

Some pictures from last week - not completely up-to-date but still cool.

This is an exciting time for SFer's because how often do people not only get to see a new tallest rise but two new tallest buildings rise simultaneously?
