You guys think that is bad, try living in Hamilton. With big brother Toronto just an hour up the road,
people seem to think that we are part of the GTA "Greater Toronto Area". We are a separate city,
not a suburb of Toronto. I'm really happy for Calgary and Edmonton (except the Leafs should have
drafted McDavid). Toronto is not the only city in Canada that deserves 200m+ skyscrapers!

I can't wait until this wonderful beast poke's it's core out from the ground. That is where the really good stuff happens and with this one there will be lots of good things to openly praise I am sure.

This tower will feature Edmonton's 'highest' restaurant. My guess is the mid point where office and resi connect.

Have you ever looked at Edmonton's skyline coming in from the south on hwy #2 and thought it looks higher than the actual elevation of the towers? That's because it is!!
The base elevation of the downtown core is about +/- 60ft higher than say the elevation at the welcome to Edmonton sign. Doesn't really seem like a substantial number at all but when considering in to tall buildings its about 5 stories so Manulife is about 41 stories instead of 36. Stantec will appear as 74 instead of 69 and will be knocking at the 900ft level from that vantage point!!Its going to be nothing short of spectacular lite up on a crisp winter evening indeed.

Podium Steel Taking Shape at Stantec Tower

Quote:
There has been a lot of progress since the dramatic April raft slab pour at the site of the Stantec Tower in Edmonton. As the main floor plate continues its ascent, the steel-framed podium that will partially house the 50,000-square-foot retail component is assuming its form. To become the tallest building in Western Canada upon completion, the 251-metre development will anchor the southeast corner of the Ice District's sweeping outdoor plaza.

It's like planting in the garden, when the first shoots come out of the ground, I get so excited.

The number 72 was mentioned by the guys mocking up the curtain wall... Interesting.

If I am not mistaken I thought I heard a company leased the top 3 floors in the office portion could it be a increase in the office tower due to demand?

It is possible... but if I am not mistaken there is still other vacant space to lease.

Can't wait for this to go UP !

I was going west on Memorial Dr the other week and noticed how the Bow stands out being on the edge but Brookfield just kinda blends in.Stantec will stand out and whatever final height it will acheive,it will be the tallest in Alberta.
