It's not 2020. Vaughan has surpassed the don't expect much to come of it as far as skyscrapers are concerned which is the topic at hand. It has 9 skyscrapers built and under construction. It doesn't matter if it's a shithole today or an oasis surrounded by a shithole. It is 3 subway stops from the second largest university campus in the GTA.

One transit station is nothing special, especially in a place hemmed in at all sides by highways and a rail yard. It's not like the rest of 905 won't have higher order transit. Markham Centre with all-day GO Train service will be very similar to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, but much less isolated. And of course Mississauga is getting a dozen LRT stations next year.

3 stops away from university campus? Again nothing special. Actually having a university campus would be more interesting. That would make it a destination.

I actually find that big power centre to the west right across the 400 more interesting. An existing major retail commercial area is something they can build upon, a place that is already a major destination by itself, rather than a way to get to Toronto. And it would be part of or an extension of an existing neighbourhood rather than an "oasis".

I'm talking about York University and not about a higher order transit connection.

Can't agree with you there that a university campus is nothing special. All those condos at Yonge and Finch were pretty much dormitories for York University when I was in them last because there's nothing by York University. The major properties are tank farms.

Vaughan City Centre is also a major regional retail cluster like Square One.

1. St. Lawrence Centre: I'm happy that 95% of the current, hideous Brutalist building is going to be demolished in HPA's latest iteration to replace it. Good riddance. (Not all Brutalism is bad, btw.)

2. 1910 Yonge & 1366 Yonge: It's crazy that buildings from the late-80s / early-90s are being replaced already in this city. 1366 Yonge is a nice-looking, PoMo medical building that's barely 30 years-old. I'm sad to to see it go.
