Yep, they're currently building the Montage "resort style living" development

It looks cool, but I am kind of surprised that it is another rental project! Is there really that much demand for this?
Remember Baydo has 2 significant rental projects on the go (not that I am even suggesting they would be same quality).

Yeah, it's interesting to see how much rental there is going up, but I feel like builders all jump on a trend (i.e. suburban condos), then complain when things are over-built, then eventually the extra supply sells. It'll be interesting to see how much rental gets built before the demand is saturated.

This project (and Meridian's Spadina proposal) both seem to be pretty unique though, so I'd image they'll do well (assuming Spadina gets built). It is cool seeing a high quality rental like this. Also cool to see that it is a 6 storey wood frame building. And for a suburban condo, it's in a decent location with lots of amenities nearby. Though there isn't much competition, I'd say it'll easily be the nicest building around there.

I don't think it's mentioned on the website but the montage is being done in 2 phases, first 146 units and pool house constructed next year for availability in 2022 and the remaining 146 being built in 2023 for occupancy in 2024, although I'm assuming that could change if rentals in phase 1 are slow.

Meridian's Spadina development is not dead yet. The City's Planning Commission is meeting this morning and will discuss Meridian's proposal:

Quote:
The committee is also expected to consider Meridian Development Corp.’s proposal to build a 19-storey tower on Spadina Crescent between Knox United Church and St. John’s Anglican Cathedral.

Meridian needs permission to subdivide the parcel of land on which the former sits, as it has been designated a heritage property. Knox United’s congregation supports the Saskatoon-based developer’s plan.

The Saskatoon Heritage Society has raised concerns about the tower diminishing both churches’ heritage value, while the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee wants to convene a roundtable to further explore the issue.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
They will also be discussing ending Cindercrete's lease of their property at 17th Street and Avenue P.

Looks like there’s still hope for the Knox Tower project: http://https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/saskatoon-councillors-move-bylaw-forward-condo-know-united-church-1.5832881

I’m really hoping the NIMBYs don’t win in the end...fingers crossed!

“ The proposed condo tower has created division in the community. The Saskatoon Heritage Society and other conservation groups are opposed to the tower's construction, saying it would ruin the city's skyline and detract from the historic churches on Spadina Crescent.”

UM NO these people are not in the community - there is no division other than from greedy people losing skyline and old people afraid of modern buildings for zero sane reason. Everyone is excited to have new neighbours downtown and a modern built contrast next to churches and remove a shit parking lot that attracts crime and is a waste of space. Get these suburban nimbies back to their Nutana houses and out of my community’s downtown. Yeesh. Crazy who gets a voice these days.

Is Nutana really a suburb?

It's crazy because for them standing in the way of this, all they are conserving is the under utilized gravel parking lot and actually preventing the church from being able to have the finances to preserve the actual building themselves (and isn't it the building itself that carries the heritage??). Such groups appear completely clueless and unreasonable.

I had no idea that Meridian's Montage rental project in Uni Heights was already under construction! I was in that area for appointment yesterday and saw a crane so drove by and was surprised to see the Montage site well under development. Great for that area and that project has some sweet amenities!!

And yes....PLEASE let Know Tower go ahead!!!

Walking down Main Street just now I saw a notice posted to solicit feedback on a proposal to rezone the stretch from 512 to 520 Main for a six-storey, 50 unit development.

Thanks for posting. Here's an image from that page:

I poked around to see what other rezonings are going on, and there's also this for the corner of Cumberland & Main:
