Well it is BLT Architects at work, so I imagine that AQ Rittenhouse will end up like a slimmer version of Edgewater. At least it won't be pink!

I think this whole area could really see dramatic change if ME gets momentum

on larger scale residential and lets say a new restaurant that capture attention and there is a lot of promise here

I was at spruce street harbor park this weekend and saw the three water taxis docked there. Are they doing the taxi service this summer up and down the water front?

Awesome! Glad this is getting underway. Wonder what they mean by affordable? North Philly affordable or Center City affordable? Either way glad this lot will be filled. Looks like this will be built on the parking lot/half empty lot between the parking garage and the ramp down to the underground parking garage. That means the parking lot right on the corner of 9th and Arch will remain a parking lot.

the zoning/use permit for 1601 Vine has been issued as of 7/3 so it looks like its moving forward. Zoning permits issued for the two apt buildings flanking broad at Callowhill as well. Construction permit for CITC has been issued. Same for Rodin Square (is that the name??) near 22nd and Spring Garden.

$260M tax credit proposed to lure energy firm to Camden
Julia Terruso, Inquirer Staff Writer

In a deal that would be bigger than that offered to the Philadelphia 76ers, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority on Tuesday disclosed a proposal to award Holtec International Inc. $260 million in tax credits to locate some of its operations to Camden.

...

Holtec, based in Marlton and Jupiter, Fla., is a multinational power-plant supplier founded by Krishna P. Singh, who has an engineering doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

...

South Jersey Democratic power broker George E. Norcross III, who is chairman of Cooper Health System and Cooper University Hospital in Camden, sits on the board of trustees of Holtec, according to his profile on the website for Connor, Strong & Buckelew, an insurance firm where he is executive chairman.

Construction on Rodin Square Could Start Around Labor Day
Wednesday, July 9, 2014, by James Jennings

Quote:
Who's ready for the new Whole Foods near the Benjamin Franklin Parkway? A recent tweet suggests that a deal has been finalized to purchase the Best Western Hotel, which currently occupies the property at 22nd and Spring Garden Street, and will soon become home to Rodin Square, a luxury apartment complex anchored by a massive Whole Foods. We've also heard from a source that construction could begin around Labor Day.

The plans call for 293 luxury apartments to sit above the new 60,000 square foot Whole Foods. The roof terrace above the Whole Foods will be oriented towards the Parkway and feature a swimming pool offering a beautifully landscaped environment. Residents and shoppers will split the 500 parking spots, some of which will be located in an underground parking garage. After the project was approved by the ZBA in October, Architect Jim Volsky likened the area to "Philadelphia's Central Park West." Or, as we like to call it in Philadelphia, the Ben Franklin Parkway. The estimated cost of the project was reported at $140 million in October of last year and construction is expected to take two years.

Do to this projects height (or lack thereof) this could probably just be moved to the Philadelphia General Development Thread.
