I've been there since the hurricane, everything's back up and running.

If you wanna see something interesting go to Schlitterbahn Galveston which was on the island. They have signs showing how high the water level was. It's amazing how quick they made a comeback.

that's because we're Texans... we don't sit around and whine about everything, we get back up, dust off our shirts, clean up the mess, and get right back to work!

Some stadium updates:
UH has some renderings of the stadium

The view from the Dynamo Stadium stands taken by Tigereye on HAIF

And some photos from Dynamo's facebook page that were posted on HAIF

Such wonderful views from both stadiums, especially the Dynamo. The most minding blowing thing of all is that all our major sports venues will be connected together by rail, way to go Houston.

Those are not the final UH stadium design. Those are only renderings for marketing purposes. They may incorporate some of those features but they are just now selecting the architect to put he drawings together.

We don't know what the final design will look like yet. Construction is slated to start in Dec. 2012.

MFAH expansion advances with naming of Steven Holl as architect

Quote:
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston announced Thursday that Steven Holl Architects will design its major two-acre expansion, which will create new space for collections, exhibitions and educational programs.

The project will entail the construction of a new museum building intended primarily for art after 1900 to complement the Audrey Jones Beck and Caroline Wiess Law Buildings. Further, the project will address the integration of the Lillie and Hugh Roy Cullen Sculpture Garden and the expansion of the Glassell School of Art. A new parking facility will be added, as well.

Unless this is based off the coliseum in Rome, I would imagine this will have seats

Tumble - correct! Although I would have accepted FEMA money for a looooooong time and would have loved to have spent some time at treasures or something to get over my "emotional" stress

Aviation - thats what a great leader does!!

If you look closely on the other side of the stadium in that last pic, I believe there are bleachers already in place.

Definitely great news, but the timeline for this expansion is 5-7 years until completion.

Awesome pic by cheetokhan from HAIF

You have the residential tower in the foreground and the office tower in the background. Not to mention the great angle that shows off downtown and assorted high rises.

Some pics by me:

It's great a large apartment complex is being constructed in the middle of Rice Village, will certainly add to this vibrant area.

While this expansion is pretty unimpressive and utilitarian architecturally, it fits in great with the current museum.

This last picture isn't mine but is pretty sweet. Shows all three major skylines:
