One the previous page I only listed the ones that are completed. Istanbul has 19 completed and 19 u/c ones since 2000, Toronto 18 completed and 19 u/c.

This is an interesting topic.

In Canada, 67% of our 500+ footers have been built in one city, Toronto. Out of the 63 the nation has built and are UC, 42 are in Toronto. Also, 2 more within a suburban city of Toronto, Mississauga, for a grand total of 70% in the Toronto CMA.

Other cities (metros) that have built 500 footers since 2000 are:

Calgary: 9 - 14%
Vancouver (Burnaby, Surrey): 6 - 10%
Montreal: 2 - 3%
Niagara Falls: 1 - 2%

Add one more to Philadelphia. The 47 floor, 656 foot FMC Tower at Cira Centre South started site-prep today and will be completed in 2016:

In May or June, work will begin on the 59 floor, 1,121 foot Comcast Innovation and Technology Center:

...and by the end of the year, the 47 floor, 567 foot SLS International will be underway:

I would love to see a 500 ft+ map for ALL of South East Asia. South Korea has been building like crazy, of course China is the monster builder but how many other new ones in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Ho Chi Minh City, etc. The Asian mega cities will consume us all!

Going back to the original list, besides Portland which would already be on the list depending on if you were going to count the spire on that building u/c or not, which other cities not already on the list have serious proposals for 500fters?

The only two I could think of were Milwaukee and Nashville, are there any others? It seems like there should be but I can't think of any.

True, but this has the added negative of making the city increasingly expensive as demand goes up while the prospect of adding inventory is consistently blocked by red tape. Soooo, it's not all good.

the rumor mill up in minneapolis is churning at full-speed about several potential towers over 700', even including a potential new tallest for the city that might reach supertall status.

but nothing official yet. it's all wait and see.

i also edited the list in the 1st post on the previous page to include portland.
