I got an update on this one from someone involved with the team. There will be a third tower, a hotel, built on this lot in a third phase once these two are built out. The developer has sold the lot on lucien l'allier where the Lafontaine mansion sits to a third party (not sure on name) who will be developing the hotel, with the mansion to be integrated as part of the hotel. I'm honestly not surprised they're using it in a commercial purpose rather then restoring it for the public, that never sounded very likely. It seems like the mansion may be part of the entrance, sort of a similar model to the hotel mount stephen.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if it'll be highrise? I heard it was to be 30 stories tall...

That would be really awesome! To be honest, the E-commerce building is great from the North or South but it is too bulky from the East or west view, so having towers slicing through that could only be good!

I absolutely agree! As for height, I understand that this is all a pretty recent development so nothing is yet set in stone. They may have designs but the person I talked to didn't have too much solid info since it's not the same developer building it. I'm pleased that it'll be hotel since presumably the design will be different enough to contrast both with the office architecture of E-commerce and the residential condos of YUL. Here's hoping for a great mix, and the increased life and density this will bring to the neighbourhood! I, for one, think this will be a more positive outcome then townhouses for that part of the lot.

I think YUL has been one of our most daring development in terms of design (along with ICONE,) so let hope the hotel will be something daring and fascinating too.

Great news, thanks for the scoop BIMBAM.

Indeed, this is great news for this Boulevard and this part of downtown. I hope that by the end of this decade this stretch will be built-out and active. I can't wait for the day that Concordia builds replaces the VA building with something worthwhile?.

Hello everyone! Decided to finally join after years of looking at the site, just letting people know i walked passed the site today and they were digging on the proposed hotel site. It's from what i remember 1/4 the lot, and has a decent depth to it.

^ Welcome, and glad you are joining our community. Makes sense - they are probably going to built it in phases.

Do you know when they're going to tear down the YUL sales office? I'm anxiously awaiting for this to start.

^ I have no idea, I have no sources. Though, the sales office may continue to be there while the building is in construction, especially considering all that space they have.

The sales office is located exactly where the first YUL tower will go up. It's not about to start since sales are at around 35% supposedly.

The site where the digging is going on is for a rumored hotel project, and it's not part of the YUL project - it's another promoter. No announcement were done concerning the hotel and I suspect that what we're seeing at the site is decontamination and not the actual beginning of the construction.

Its simple, but not bad for a Holiday Inn, i like the colours and it'll add more density
