Noticed some shiny and reflective panels being placed in the crown OVER the corrugated metal on the east side of the building this morning. Starting to get excited that the ugliness may be disappearing soon..

I'm looking forward to how they finish it, looks so odd right now. This tower has turned out pretty well, still think the design is a little too basic, but the materials and execution have turned out pretty well. Give it a 7/10 so far.

It's nothing iconic, but I suppose Calgary is no worse for having it. What's the east tower alone - 840 000 sqft and $800M construction? Any city would welcome that infusion into the centre of their city, especially adjacent to the LRT and surrounded by other skyscrapers.

Ultimately though, I hope Brookfield Place becomes our second tallest, making way for something more distinctive.

Retards couldn't find a way to attach a 100 ft needle so we could at least argue that it is the tallest building in the West? Bitches. All of them. Lol

7 sounds about right although being basic shouldn't be used against it. Basic can mean the minute details stand out more so it requires even greater precision from the architect.

I understand the desire for consistency but, I think the lobby/atrium would have benefited from another choice of structural glazing than a stick system or whatever its called. Bay Adelaide East, for example, has a common glass fin system that would look great here (clamped instead of West's goofy bolted glass)

It's like BC said a page or two back - give them a chance to finish the damn thing before rushing to judgement.

It's cool that the glass panels are double wide on the crown.

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of an ongoing construction thread (and this forum for that matter)

Well for one thing those panels are massive. For another I think it will make the crown lighting shine brighter as there will be less joints. Also it distinguishes the crown in another sense than just the colour of the glass.

Imagine the same shot in other cities from that height: Vancouver, Edmonton, Buffalo, Portland. Montreal would be notable and Toronto would be over the top, but still - really quite something. And the photo doesn't even have the Bow. [wish it was a wider angle actually, so The Bow was in there, with an equal amount of added on the west (for mountains and more skyline there also).]
