Let's hope so, but i won't celebrate just yet. Remember these renders, released a long time ago?

A friend of mine in the steel business in Regina says they got another inquiry for beams from the foundation contractor for Capital Pointe. It is for 500,000lbs. of big beams, delivery is Jan. 15th from their mill. I think their last inquiry a few months back was for 900,000lbs. I can't figure out what's going with CP, they say they are going to make some sort of announcement in the next few weeks, but how many of these have we heard in the last 5 years and still no action at Albert & Victoria!!

When it comes to the construction of structural steel-type projects, it is common for large projects to have steel fabricated via different contractors for various aspects of large structural-related construction projects. The Co-op refinery is an extreme example of that. (That may be why.)

That would lead me to believe a potentially smaller tower, or they are hedging their bets and would add more if demand picked up when they started construction. Even if they are going with separate contractors for material it's odd that it changed. Somewhat a risky move and that second option makes me think either poor cashflow which would be a huge warning sign for me if they start building. There's been a few cities with derelict construction sites. I'd rather have nothing here than what Chicago had for a few years or North Korea had for decades. Turned out okay, but not exactly a great marketing tool.

These would be the heavy I-beams used for shoring the massive u/g parking garage.

Any chance the materials for the hotel and condo might be different? That's my guess.

Very much so. The materials would likely be fabricated to a different spec.

They might be, but we haven't really seen anything design-wise other than what's out there and it hasn't significantly changed me to think losing half the materials is logical.

Let's see. September 16th. To September 23rd. To September 30th. To October 7.

Here's hoping there's an announcement this week.

On October third Mr Black had stated they are waiting for an excavation permit from the city , and that within a few days they should have the permit , could this be true finally something is taking place (shovels in the ground )

Yeah, I just went by that outline on their website. usually those are not the most reliable things. Plus I don't live there, so all I can do is guess. (actually, I did live in Regina for a few months back in 2001 - gov't contract)

Nathan's pic is better than my half assed effort!

A skyline shot from a while back ,now with four more towers downtown

If an excavation permit has actually been applied for, the city would be prudent to be a bit circumspect about issuing these jokers a permit to dig a big ass hole in the ground right beside a busy interstection. A hole that the developers may not have the capacity to actually fill with a structure.

PCL Construction Management Inc. provides construction services throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. The work is conducted out of four offices, strategically located in the major centers of Edmonton, Calgary, Regina and Saskatoon.

PCL has a vast portfolio of commercial, institutional and infrastructure
work, consisting of shopping centres, office towers, multi-family
residential complexes, educational and health care facilities, museums,

it looks as though PCL will be building this

They'll probably start once they finish construction on the new stadium.

Thumbs down

I love how none of their renderings correctly represent their location. The rendering with the Hill Towers in the background suggests CP will b south of the downtown core, somewhere around 2100 or 2200 blocks Lorne or Cornwall. Various other renderings show the building immediately west of City Hall. What happened to the NCO building?
