I just quickly took a look at the Fr-speaking forum; they say this is the most slender, thinnest building ever built.
It's got its pack of fans over here for this reason. Concrete is allowing such structural feats.
It's a splendid tower, there's no question about the design itself.

However, they also claim the building would host only some 60 units.
That's insane. The worst is the tower might sit mostly empty most of the time, eventually.
Foreign billionaires purchasing that kind of real estate take it as speculative goods, and hardly ever set foot in there.
Same phenomenon as that of large urban mansions here in Paris, that's quite controversial.

Its definitely a reality purchasing units for investment properties and sitting empty. A lot of these uber-high cost units are like that. Buy X unit, wait Y years, sell it. Unless some disaster happens, or the Independence Day aliens glass the city, prices will continue to rise.

I mean, I am totally ok with this acting simply as a sculpture and without any utility to the city. It is just that gorgeous. I don't think that's necessarily a good thing but god this thing cannot be beat. Now, as a trend that is more worrisome but I'll make an exception for this one.

^ I wouldn't worry about that. It's not something that's as much as people would make it out to be. This building isn't even built yet, and people are worrying that there will be no one in it.

^My guess is once the investors see the unbelievable views from their investment units, they will not want to leave.

I'll house sit for any billionaire if they need one. I won't ask for a salary either.

Yeah, it won't be a flat, glass surface.

At about 17:40 he gets into the details...

There are Open Windbreak Floors (71 and 31). They might be able to go to these floors and ride the elevator up.

111 W 57th in the distance as seen from the Bronx. Along with all the other super talls rising. Skyline changing in a big way.

1 Wall St is an incredibly beautiful building. Underrated.

Incredible pictures!

A few observations. I remember when One57 was going up and it stood out for its height.
Now it is almost an afterthought (height-wise). Central Park Tower may be taller but it is so clear that 111 W 57th is architecturally/design superior. Lastly, it'll be wild to see how far out the tower crane is outriggered once this reaches topping out phases.
