This seems to be going up very quickly, much faster than metropolis. Hopefully that will pick up speed now that its above ground though. Having the core way ahead of the steel seems like the new way to do things, thats how theyre doing the new comcast tower in Philly. From what I always remembered the core would be about 2-4 stories ahead of steel instead of 10-12. Either way, exciting to see it going up so fast!

Nice picture update. Another core jump and 3 more levels of columns and beams.

It's a decent tower, but it's no supertall.
You've voiced your opinion before on this. If you're really that bothered, perhaps you can start an on-line petition to right this gross miscarriage of justice. Or, alternatively, you could stop letting it annoy you and move on with life?

Thank You,
He trolls this site like a basement dwelling 13 y o.

In other news, The WGT will break 700' before the middle of August. SLR had said that once they get to the hotel floors, they will be rising about one floor a week, and that seems to be the pace they have taken. I'd reckon they have the core topped out before Christmas

These floors have been hotel room floors since about the 30th level. The 50th level is visible under the core formwork. That level is at 551'

Yes, I get that. I was basically saying that since they started the hotel floors (which began after the seismic bracing levels) they have been going up pretty fast. Its well above Ernst&Young, I think its actually closer to 600' at this point, but that is just speculation.

Either way, its looking like the superstructure of the tower will be mostly up by the first quarter of next year.

Yes the last jump put the top of the core formwork just above the 54th level 600 AGL There is a jump about every 5 days.

Does he know that the BK has a 400' spire that is part of the last 500' of floor free space that then turns into a pipe at the top' The future tallest KT has something like 900' of it. They all count in the overall height of those tallest buildings.

Seriously, I don't get why people get so upset over something so trivial.

Well luckily he got himself suspended for pulling this nonsense again over in the 200 Greenwich thread, so hopefully it will stop.

In other news, over on the WGC site, under the design link, under 'Design Fact Sheet' it gives precise measurements for the tower, so we will know for sure.

http://www.wilshiregrandcenter.com/project-info

It shows:
Plaza to top of podium: 160'
Plaza to skypool deck: 827'
Plaza to top of crown: 934'
Plaza to top of spire: 1'100'

It also shows the setup of the office space floorplates and the hotel floorplates.
Apparently the slight curve of the façade on the north face doesn't go all the way up. This building has a much more dynamic design than I realized with the different angles, curves, and cladding that will appear on each face.
Fascinating.
Now if only I could get the PDF to let me post it here...lol

I have noticed some minor changes since this info originally was released. The pool height of 834' and the windows that extent out on the east and west sides of the building are not cut as shown on the drawings.

When they put some towers on the lot behind that one old mid rise it will definitely look like Manhattan
