Juulsen looks fine... Good numbers for a D-man, he just needs to gain some weight. He probably impressed the scouting staff a lot if he surpassed Jeremy Roy in Timmins' list. I bet the fact that Scherbak also plays for Everett helped Juulsen get noticed by the Habs' management.

Speaking of Scherbak, I hope the kid makes the team this year. We desperately need a top RW.

Pacioretty-Galchenyuk-Scherbak sounds good.

4 #1 picks on forward against what most are calling the best D in the West, and many are calling the best D in the entire league. Plus Calgary can actually score goals, and in theory Edmonton is finally addressing their D/goal situation (results pending).

The Battle of Alberta is ON, bitches.

Also nice to see Vancouver sell yet another promising goaltender for a bag of pucks.

Yet another promising goaltender? Are you referring to Cory Schneider for Bo Horvat? If Horvat is a bag of pucks, I'll take 5 bags of pucks please.

Every goaltender whose played a limited amount of games is promising. Anyways, I'm not as up to speed on major junior players as you might be. How is Guillaume Brisebois a bag of pucks?

That it is, but we are still too small.

Jets killed it at the draft adding to what is widely regarded as the best prospect pool in the NHL. Shoutout to Boston for letting Connor fall to us.

Not that this is the most, uh, reputable of sources, but the NY Post published a report on Tuesday about the Phoenix Coyotes and the possible sale/relocation of the franchise. Also some mention of potential expansion locations/groups.

Arizona Coyotes to move to Las Vegas under new owner
By Josh KosmanJune 30, 2015 | 8:12pm

Sin City is getting hockey, two sources close to the situation told The Post.
The NHL is arranging the sale of the Arizona Coyotes to billionaire William Foley, who will move the team to Las Vegas, giving it its first major professional franchise, one source said.
“Las Vegas has reached 10,000 season ticket deposits,” enough to justify a franchise, the other source said.

Foley said in January that he needed 10,000 ticket deposits to get an NHL team.

Foley will move them for the 2016-17 season, the source said. The Post last year was the first to report Foley was backing a Vegas franchise.
MGM Resorts and arena operator AEG are building a 20,000-seat, hockey-ready arena in Las Vegas that is slated to open in spring 2016.

A Coyotes spokesman said, “The Coyotes are committed to playing in Arizona.” When asked for how long, the spokesman reiterated the team was committed to playing in Arizona. “Period.” Arizona last year ranked 28th in attendance.

Meanwhile, the city council in Glendale, Ariz., last month voted to terminate its lease agreement that expires in 2028 that has the city paying the team $15 million a year for a share of revenue.

The NHL is also eyeing expansion franchises in the Toronto and Seattle areas for the 2017-18 season, a source said.
The NHL announced it was accepting applications for expansion franchises from July 6 until Aug. 10.
Former Bauer Hockey Chairman Graeme Roustan is the lead person putting together a Toronto-area expansion team bid.

The NHL denied the story.
Foley and Roustan did not return calls.
Needless to say, both Gary Bettman and Coyotes ownership have denied the validity of this report.

That confirms what I said 5 years ago... that it was a HUGE mistake getting Kessel in the first place. They gave up the future for him... wasted 5 years accomplishing nothing during that time... and got squat in return for him (yet still paying about 15% of his salary for the next 7 years).

I get a cookie for hitting that out of the park.

This is something I like about Bergevin. We never "lose" trades anymore and everything he does is calculate. Trust him 100% as our GM.

Kassian is basically a more offensive version of Prust (more pts). I really like Prust and wouldn't have minded to have him on the team at the start of the season but with his style of play, he was really slowing down at 31.

Add in the age factor(24 vs 31) and Kassian holds more value than Prust. And then Vancouver gives us also a 5th rounder? Great!

Sorry Winnipeg. Didn't mean to steal him away from you.

I'm damned curious to see how the pre-season rankings end up this year. Growing consensus seems to be Anaheim and Calgary competing for the division this year, with Edmonton as a possible dark horse. The rest of the division is a joke at this point unless LA rebounds significantly.

Dallas is either going to be fabulous or the biggest disappointment ever. Pretty much the same alternatives as last year and we know how that turned out.

Too much considering the disappointment he has been. He really needs to pick things up this season.

Canucks should finish near the Western basement this season which will finally net us a decent draft pick for once. The decade of the Prairie teams sucking and the Canucks being division winners is finally over.
