Yeah, but we're not talking about rebuilding. Just getting a top 5 pick to retool our offense.

So it's ok to tank purposely to get the pick, but rebuilding is wrong.
Nice hypocrisy. It's ok for the Habs, but not for the Leafs.

The good news is the Habs will probably miss the playoffs and still not get a top 5 pick.

Calm down bud. We didn't plan on tanking, but with Price out for a long time we clearly aren't going far this season (11% chance to make the playoffs right now). I'd rather not make the playoffs and draft in the top 5 than not make them and draft at #10.

Plus I don't condemn the Leafs for rebuilding. They desperately needed it.

To be fair, we're against the Leafs whatever they do.

This. We shall see. Habs just won two games and people who have been ice cold have started scoring again. Can they go on a run without Price? I just don't see it.

One of Ottawa or Montreal is likely to make the playoffs i'd imagine, unless Carolina/New Jersey get hot down the stretch. This whole no playoffs in Canada thing is BS anyway. People need to stop fretting so much.

Wideman should have gotten the 20. You don't touch referees ever. No exceptions.

The Oilers are bad and they should feel bad. They need defenseman. I imagine Yakupov gets moved for something of value at some point, especially considering Draisaitl and McDavid have already surpassed him. Getting Klefbom back is going to help a lot.

Given the crash the Habs have endured it's reallllllyyyy interesting going back and reading posts in this thread early on when they were winning games without Price.

^The problem is Yakupov is worth nothing. Third-round conditional pick maybe.

I figured the Oilers would still be bad, but 5-1 and 8-1 is unbelievable. At least they'll be well-rested for Tuesday because they can't have been skating that hard in New York.

The win over Ottawa was a bit of an illusion. Ottawa was reeling from injuries and Edmonton got some puck luck in the first period with the first two goals going in off of Ottawa sticks.

At this point the Oilers need to do what the Flyers have done and just draft nothing but defenseman for two or three years. Bound to hit one eventually. Nurse is a great D-man but he's better moving forward than actually playing defence, IMO. They need fewer offensive D like Schultz and more defensive D. Like, don't draft Chychrun this year, unless you really think his defensive play is worth the points he'll put up. In an ideal world they trade down and draft Niemelainen.

If you package Yakupov and EDM's 1st for a team's 1st, 3rd, conditional 5th or something you'd do alright I guess.

^That's an interesting way of packaging the trade.

Big Buff signed for five years with the Jets at $38 million. So happy we get to keep our big guy.

I wonder if it will hard to watch the game against New Jersey on tue. We'll know right after puck drop. If it goes 3-0 in the 1st period AGAIN.....well....I give up.

Disappointed in my fellow Habs fans who are cheering for us to lose.

I said it before and will say it again, I don't and will never support the person/team doing it.

Nicko, we are never winning a cup with this current team. Too many soft players and travelers.

Details sketchy, no confirmation, but sounds like OTT/TOR working on a trade involving Leaf captain Dion Phaneuf. Let's see where this goes.
