^ That steal has gone up pretty quickly over the last couple of weeks. I drove by there a few weeks ago on my way to a meeting, and there was nothing above ground in the new construction areas yet.

Here's some short footage of the Wilshire/Vermont intersection from last month I never posted. Also features some 9th story views from a nearby office building and a couple random shots

Anyone see this on Curbed today? Never heard about this prior to today.

Gwyneth Paltrow's Soho House-type club on the Sunset Strip. Interesting architecture too.

A bit embarrassed to ask because I probably should know, but what are the two black objects flying in this photo?

New rendering for 10000 SaMo Blvd, although this one is close to finished.

Appeals on what? La Mirada appealing the new zoning? I honestly cannot take that Doug Haines, and this city's NIMBYism is sending me to an early grave.

It was like nothing I've ever seen, and it definitely appeared to be piloted. It looked military, almost like a Bruce Wayne type craft. Anyone have any idea what this was?

Nope, it definitely wasn't a helicopter/rotary. It was pitch black. I'm talking straight-up Bruce Wayne style. Looked like a spaceship. It was insane. It's apparently Navy. Would love to find out what it was though.

La Mirada had 3 things they appealled. Planning Commission also mandated that Target provide child care on site or immediately adjacent and target is appealing that.

Yes, crows I would guess. Don't feel embarrassed though, at first I though they looked like B1 bombers!

^Speaking of B1 bombers, you see the giant strip mall in the picture with Lowe's, Target, Staples etc.? It use to be a factory for Lockheed where they would make war planes and other vehicles too. Lockheed left in the 90s and it was developed into what it is now called the Empire Center, opening in 2001. I think it was truly a huge mistake and an enormous waste of land. It's about an entire square mile and there is way too much parking. The only time it is ever more than half full is on Black Friday. A wild dream I have is to redevelop it. Route a metro line to it and create an urban village type thing. I'd tear everything down except for the three midrise office buildings. There would be a lot of greenspace. It could consist of a bunch of 5-25 story buildings. The same big box stores already there could be on the bottom floor and hundreds of residential units could be on top. Streetscape would be key and keeping all parking underground and out of sight would be very important.
