AMSTERDAM heart off Europe

It has the charming of a village, the energy and vibe from a metropole, and it has
the most grande rich buildings from a royal city.
Its the city of tolerance, the most international mixed city on the world.
Its called Amsterdam.

These are all photo’s from the worldcity Amsterdam.
In the Golden Age Amsterdam was the richest city in the world.
It was the centre of the world.
Amsterdam has more then 7500 protected monuments.
Streetnames, streets, buildings etc etc. are still used/in the same shape as they where made.
Amsterdam has the largest historical "citycentre" from Europe.
More then 5 million tourists from all over the world visit the energetic city of Amsterdam each year.
For the best musea (with the worldfamous Dutch painters), the canals and the buildings, Anne Frank House, the Red Light District and Coffeeshops etc. etc.

Beautyfull, indeed! Many of the photos that you posted demonstrate the conviviality between pedestrians and streetcars that is best exemplified on the streets of Amsterdam. I especially like number three!

Out of all the European Cities I have visited, Amsterdam is my favorite.

The city honestly feels like a living being of it's own.

It seems like a smart city. Transport is excellent, people are excellent, very clean, we felt safe - even in the Red Light District (except for a fellow trying to get us to go to "his bar for lots of dancing".

This is a city North American Cities could learn alot from.

Here are some pictures from my last visit:

Siiting in one of the many squares, you really sense you are at the crossroads of not just Europe, but the entire world. It is incredibly modern in so many ways, yet history just permeates from everywhere. I simply love Amsterdam.

I love Amsterdam - it's a truly beautiful and functional city. I thought it was interesting how you were more likely to be hit by a bike than a car, much different than my hometown of Los Angeles. I can't wait to go back - thanks for the awesome photos - they brought back some great memories =)
