Something between that street In Japan on the previous page and Youge-Dundas square would be awesome for Rideau.

I used to live in Japan and loved this part of Tokyo! The buildings do look much better in pictures, however, and the massive street that divides the two sides is not necessarily apparent.

I'm thinking Hull for some reason. On St-Joseph or along Ruisseau de la Brasserie. Maybe across Laurier from Civilization.

It's definitely one of the first places in Tokyo I want to visit whenever I end up going.
I guess the street was bigger in my mind because after doing some Google travelling, it's not that imposing at all.

And ya, it's a great neighbourhood, albeit a little expensive. I had the weirdest culinary delight there - chicken sushi (raw chicken! ay ay ay) - at a really expensive restaurant.

Interesting detail on this skyscraper proposed for Manhattan, reminiscent of the Gothic style. A similar treatment to a tall building here would be interesting mix with the Neo-Gothic of Parliament Hill, and a refreshing change from all the glass boxes.

I propose everything be built at the same place, but this style (only 800 to 1000 feet lower) would look good as part of Place de Ville IV.

Something like this on a smaller scale would be nice on the Metro lot at Rideau/King Edward.

Why smaller? Look at the surrounding buildings, perhaps a smaller footprint but definitley not shorter. At this is really surprising, 1000 rental units?!? AMAZING! Imagine what that would do for Ottawa? Im sure that they would be more enticing than renting a condo. Ottawa would really benefit from a project like this. No more death by condo-fees.

Nice. I'm feeling Hull for this one, or maybe Tunney's.

As for Honest Ed's, it is no where near as iconic as Sam Sam the Record Man, and that was demolished without too much opposition from what I can recall.

That's one of those love it or hate it buildings. I just don't think it belongs on Yonge.

I think it is an example of architecture that we see alot in Europe and Asia and not nearly enough in North America. It would be nice to see more so this example wouldnt look too out of place.

We talk about how so many boring buildings there are, and when something that is wacky goes up it is too extreme. I find it kinda funny.
