Reimagining Ottawa’s architecture

I was thinking that it might be fun to create a thread were we share buildings and other architectural structures around the world that we really like, and think might be a great addition to the city. It can be of any style and from any time period - it could even be buildings Ottawa used to have or currently has. It doesn't have to be a specific building, but even a certain architectural feature.

Provide whatever information you think might be useful, and where you think it would look great.

I'd love to see this building someplace in Centretown or Hintonburg. It sort of reminds me (maybe the shape, colour, and size) of Gotham. It could be on any small lot, especially with shorter buildings around it to make it more dramatic. Either on Gladstone where Alek's Auto Body shop is located, or even on Somerset between Pavarazzi's the the dental clinic.

Would be cool as a gap filler between two high rise buildings.

Japan has some pretty narrow and confusing streets, and I feel that Hintonburg would be a great location as it has some densely-packed homes and very narrow streets. No I haven't, those are just Quotes of the previous posts. When I put the URLs in the "post photo" box, all that appears is a the square with an x.

Your problem is that you're linking to the webpage that has the picture, but not the picture itself.

If you go to that Panoramio page, (http://www.panoramio.com/photo_explo...sc&user=383862), there is a button that says "View the original image". Click on that and it will call up the image itself. Copy the address of the image (http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/1846959.jpg) and you will get this:

defishel, I've seen the first one many times (it's even in GTA IV). It is a fine example of preserving history while adding significant density. Toronto has a lot of such projects as well.

The second one I've never seen before, I like it a lot. Where is it?

Came across a residence by Studio Gang designed for the University of Chicago on Archinect yesterday. Ottawa could use a couple buildings like this, namely at Ottawa U as a residence (over by Lees), or as an Office building at Tunney's.

Thanks. I would love to see something like this for the Arts Court tower.

And to comment on citydwlr pictures; I find that these buildings sort of already look like Tunney's or even uOttawa type architecture, only more fluid. The first building kind of reminds me of the DND HQ.

They also designed the Absolute Towers (aka Maryland Munroe towers) in Mississauga. For some reason, I can't find the Conrad Hotel on their site.
