2018 Census Metro Population Estimates

The Census Bureau released County, Metropolitan and Micropolitan estimated July 1, 2018 population estimates today. Here's some data selected by me.

Top 10 Metros

1. New York - Newark - Jersey City: 19,979,477
2. Los Angeles - Long Beach - Anaheim: 13,291,486
3. Chicago - Naperville - Elgin: 9,498,716
4. Dallas - Fort Worth - Arlington: 7,539,711
5. Houston - The Woodlands - Sugar Land: 6,997,384
6. Washington - Arlington - Alexandria: 6,249,950
7. Miami - Fort Lauderdale - West Palm Beach: 6,198,782
8. Philadelphia - Camden - Wilmington: 6,096,372
9. Atlanta - Sandy Springs - Roswell: 5,949,951
10. Boston - Cambridge - Newton: 4,875,390

Top 10 Metro Numerical Growth July 1, 2017 - July 1, 2018 (with July 1, 2018 population if not already listed above)

1. Dallas - Fort Worth - Arlington: 131,767
2. Phoenix - Mesa - Scottsdale: 96,268 (4,857,962)
3. Houston - The Woodlands - Sugar Land: 91,689
4. Atlanta - Sandy Springs - Roswell: 75,702
5. Orlando - Kissimmee - Sanford: 60,045 (2,572,962)
6. Seattle - Tocoma - Bellevue: 54,894 (3,939,363)
7. Austin - Round Rock: 53,086 (2,115,230)
8. Riverside - San Bernadino - Ontario: 51,934 (4,622,361)

Looks like the trend of growth in the South and West continues to dominate. Not really surprising. Here in Canada growth is still strongest in Alberta & BC as well...

Yes. I put this post in the "United States" area because previous posts like this that I made elsewhere were moved into it. Very few people look at posts in this section. Someone else started a similar thread in the city discussions section and it has pages and pages of comments.

South and West getting all the growth here; it's true.
