Is there a CVC running through this lot? I noticed the angled wall seems to line up with the Capitol.

Looking at the map, it looks like the CVC runs right through the hotel site.

Nice update. It looks like 12 or 13-stories at it's highest elevation in the first photo. How is everyone's favorite Hyatt House looking across the street?

I looked at the elevations and this is actually 13-stories, not 11. The basement levels are above ground on the Red River side.

We're going to be losing cranes faster than they will be going up for a while. The two left at Seaholm and the last one at Millennium Rainey will also be coming down soon. Some of the medical center cranes won't be up much longer since those are only mid-rises that are pretty far a long.

There were workers on site when I passed by yesterday.

Here's a rendering of the less appealing Holiday Inn Express side:

I nominate that as the next target for a plane to fly into. Doesn't matter if it's an irate taxpayer or ISIS, just don't hurt anyone other than the pilot.

Seems like that tacky Holiday Inn Express portion of the project kind of flew in under the radar. That is truly butt ugly.

Little overboard in my opinion, bro. But I agree that it's ugly.

This one didn't turn out so bad. But did anyone notice that they painted several murals on the side? Looks awesome.

I'd love to see photos of that. Murals are a great addition.

It probably won’t win any beauty awards and I’m ok with that. While I would have liked to see a bit more engagement with the street, I’m a fan of having new hotel rooms that aren’t in the W/JW price range. And I’m happy to see the previous use replaced (small, dark, parking garage and an empty, fenced in lot).

Here's a link to a several photos of the murals on the side of the building. Someone likes purple.

Or indigo...makes sense, but more colors would have been nice. Nonetheless, I think they look pretty good. They brought a lot of local things into play.

Edit: Though one thing that I like about urban murals is when they take up an entire blank wall. It seems more organic, as opposed to framed areas that seem more structured. These still aren't bad, in my opinion (better than a blank white-stone wall), but a really large mural on a brick wall would've been cooler...

I was thinking the same thing on all your points. I'm just glad they did what they did instead of leaving it blank. People will definately pause to look at them, but is there really that much foot traffic in that part of town?

Not yet, but Indigo/Holiday Inn Express will help.
