Maybe Kevin could pose a few questions with the developers. Which render represents the building we are going to have to live with for the next 50 years or so???

I actually don't completely mind the old render. The new one is basically the hampton inn on 2nd...and has some shades of the rejected JW Marriott design.

ps. It's actually uglier than the hampton inn.

I think the idea was minimalism, but it didn't work well here. It's too plain. It needs more accents to make it interesting. That lower section on the corner of the building looks like 1960s/70s school architecture. My high school had walls that look almost exactly like that.

The new rendering reminds me more of the Courtyard Marriott/Residence Inn on 4th. The old rendering could look nice if yellow were a more natural limestone. and the red were brick. The new one looks like cheap pre-cast panels.

Yeah, simple red brick and limestone would do worlds of improvement to the current design. It just makes me sad that something like this goes on a prominent block like Red River, especially since it was recently labeled The Red River Cultural District and all.

No hint of the proposed dual-branding in the new rendering...

In fact, the "upper lobby" for the HI Express is completely removed too!

I'm not very familiar with Indigo brand, but it feels really strange to have a name such as Hotel Indigo on something so generic. The person who mentioned the Hampton Inn, this has nothing on it. Hampton has decent ground level and some architectural interest near the top. It's not good, but I don't consider it the eyesore this is and I am generally pretty reasonable about development expectations.

Ha, I see it too! Very Crockett High and also Lanier.

I came here to say the bottom looks like Crockett. I was beaten to the punch.

And this was my reaction to this new render:

The hotel could look alot better, but I don't think for a second that it's actually going to turn out the way the rendering portrays it's going to be. Especially the bottom wall, which is just plain wrong. Every thing else, eh. Also I wish they went with brick instead of stucco.

Seriously. We live about 1,200 feet from Crockett. I can see the gym from our patio through the trees. That is the first thing that came to mind when I saw that section of the building. Reagan High, Crockett, Lanier, etc.

This one should also be updated to U/C because the first floor is pretty far along.

Thanks. I had been over there a couple of weeks ago, but they were still digging.

I find this ironic. This site has it's crane up before Millennium Rainey, though I'm not sure what's the hold up for them?

I'm wondering the same thing. They just don't seem to be getting much done for all the work going on at the site.
