Many, if not most of those cars are probably heavily modified, especially underneath the hood. Because these cars are American, there aren't parts readily available. Many of them are diesels and some of them have been retrofitted with engines from Korea, China, and Russia. Also, many of them are rusted out, due to the salt and just being down near the ocean. They still look pretty sharp, though!!
