Just north of St Louis, MO is the nearly empty Jamestown Mall:

I found this "gated" (?) community in Lima. I guess they really don't want any through traffic.

I guess the google driver tipped the guy with the key.

Some Albany, NY grit, though many look like they could be rehab material:

I never did make it to Sioux City when I visited Iowa four years ago. So I decided to check it out on goolge maps. Here's an neighborhood just outside downtown. A little rough around the edges, but that's the kind of area I often visit when on a trip.

First an aerial of downtown

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska

Residential

Something looks out of place

A small business section in the neighborhood

It looks from that aerial view like the entire downtown core is connected by sky bridges / elevated pedestrian tunnels. Pretty cool.

Cold, but not the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.......

It's been a while, but I hope to get back in the swing of posting in this thread.

Harrisburg, PA residential areas

However, Harrisburg like many other northeastern cities has plenty of grit too.

An aerial shot of the northern part of the city where some of the blocks are quite empty (a la Detroit)

Now some grit

nice to see flowers in the hood

Lastly, the corner of Summit & Christian in 2011

And in 2015

The railroad tracks in Harrisburg form a huge physical barrier that bisects the city and cuts off the north side. There are multiple socio-economic factors at play here, but I've wondered how things would have looked if the tracks were never there.

Thought I'd get away from city life. I checked out Pine Ridge, SD (a Census Designated Place) which is part of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_R...an_Reservation )

In many ways it seems as down in the dumps as some of the city grit posts. There are many problems including an uptick in the murder rate (for 2016):
http://rapidcityjournal.com/news/loc...6bd807379.html

Anyway on to some pics.

Yippee....a Pizza Hut

Admin building for the Ogala Sioux

There is a bus system

I didn't know there were still Sinclair gas stations

Taxes no matter where you go

Let's visit Bridgeport, CT.

Downtown:

A friendly guy

Residential

Neat house

Some businesses outside the CBD

Greater Love Temple

Colorful business district

The front side of the above business (on the right)

Industrial grit

Dead industry on the right, dead citizens on the left
