At the end of every week, on Friday night, I would take pictures from several angles to chronicle that work I'd done. I didn't start doing that until after the first couple of weeks.

This is after Jan 19, 2008.

This is the end of Jan 2008. I realized I was going to have to work faster if I was going to finish by June.

The end of Feb 2008. I decided at this point that I should focus on one quadrant at a time. The Sections separated by 42nd St and Park avenue formed the Quadrants. My plan was to start with the most difficult and finish with the easiest.

The end of Mar 2008. I finally finished the difficult Alpha Quadrant. I also decided to nix the perimeter blocks to save time and improve the aesthetics.

The end of Apr 2008. I finished the Beta Quadrant and most of the Gamma. April was my most successful month in terms of shere numbers of blocks.

The end of May 2008. The modelling was done, but I still had to saw off the perimeter, build a carrying case, clean off the model and glue all the buildings down.

Here is a shot with all the buildings unloaded. I took the base and carefully sawed off the perimter with a hand saw - I didn't have any power saws, and there wasn't any guarantee that it would align properly if I did. There's more of these pics on flickr. Note that some tiny buildings have already been glued down, and the whole Grand Central Terminal area is fully modelled. The Met Life and the Hensley Building actually fit over top Park Avenue.

Here's the finished product, June 2008, approximately 2000 hours of work later.

AZ4NY....your model is truly one of the most remarkable things I've ever seen.
I imagine it will one day be in a museum.
