Excellent find VC351W... I like this photograph better than the one with all the rug rats children.

We can help you to post photographs. . .but. . .um. .I'm not a very good teacher. We'll find someone.
One tip:..You have to use a host website...I use imageshack. (it's free up to a certain amount)

Do any of you remember the photograph of me hanging upside-down from the H in the Hollywood Sign?..It's here if you'd like to see it again.

This is my college roommate, the person who took the photograph. He just emailed me this photo of him that I took that day...I had forgotten all about it. It shows more of the sign than my photo.

Randy ended up working at Warner Bros. for 34 years and counting!

Cool! And yes, I do remember the picture of you hanging upside-down on the Hollywood sign!

I think you may be right, it is facing southeast. And that building is likely 3345 Wilshire Blvd., because to its right is the Gaylord Apartments, as you can see in this slightly wider view:

And that church tower in the middle left edge has to be this: https://www.google.com/maps/@34.0617...8192?entry=ttu

... the Immanuel Presbyterian Church... right?

I go by there often enough, I wonder why I didn't recognize that before?

That's a great photo and I'm glad they changed the name of the street. Who'd want to live on "Sulfer Avenue"?

I remarked to a friend of mine I visited in Hollywood last week how great the sign looked that day. I said, "It's August and it's still green around the Hollywood sign." (We had a cool and often wet 7 month span of weather here.)

e_r,

I know from the very first post here that you lived in L.A. for eight years, in the '80s I assume. Did you go to school out here?

At first glance I thought it was San Pedro.

Thanks odinthor.

No, but I almost did.

I had a friend who taught for the Los Angeles Unified School District and he told me that L.A. was so desparate USC had started an accelerated program for school teachers. (I already had a bachelor degree)
So one afternoon I drove to USC to pick up the forms & paperwork and the lady at the desk said the committee was meeting at that very moment and asked if I'd like to go in and speak with them.
Flustered, I said yes.

She opened the door and I walked in. . .

. .to something similar to this.

I almost fainted!

I answered a few questions and got the heck out of there.

Needless to say I never became a school teacher.

This amazing snapshot was just listed on eBay. The seller doesn't include a location but it sure looks like Los Angeles!

eBay

A bit larger.

eBay

If I had xray vision. .Superman's eyes I'd read that street sign.

I just noticed something else: Could this be a possible clue in figuring out the location?

There appears to be something unusual going on horizonally.

Or am I seeing things? ..

Go forth minions!

I thought I had posted this snapshot a month or so ago but now I'm not so sure.

As you can see it shows a handsome man standing in front of - what looks like - Bunker Hill.

Seller's description:..."Vintage Photograph 1920's Houses Men's Fashion LOS ANGELES California Old Photo"

eBay

Do any of you Bunker Hill nuts experts recognize the old homes and apartments buildings?

If I have previously posted the snapshot pretend that I haven't.

Gave it a couple attempts, but I can't help with the above locations in the two posts. Just thought I'd post something while waiting for the hurricane/tropical storm to arrive.

It very much has the air of the neighborhood in the mid-300s of Olive:

odinthor collection

But nothing exactly matches up that I've found. What troubles me further is that the gent is obviously (?) facing south, and for Olive the grade of the street there should be the opposite of what we see. The gent appears to be standing at the crest of the ascent, because while beyond him the street is at an angle, he himself is standing flat. So where would a person have to be to be facing south and standing flat at the top of a rise? I'm stumped. Could it be somewhere north of 1st St., at the crest of that area of Bunker Hill along Court St.?

Good questions, odinthor. I appreciate your help. The two locations are proving much more difficult to solve than I imagined.

Mystery Stalker?

Here's a location that should be much easier to solve. (1966)

eBay / 1966 snapshot - grimy street gutter

Unless I'm mistaken the photographer is mostly interested in the pretty young woman. .. (note that the photograph is partially hidden behind the street light. (or door frame?)

Here's another photo that shows only the woman (and not the man she's talking to) and lo and behold the woman has spotted the photographer!

I think she startled him -hence the bluriness.
