Excellent job in piecing together the twp pages of baist map.

Thanks for taking the time to do that ProphetM. I really appreciate it.

Here's an intriguing photograph of a group of workers posing in front of the 'White Spot' Reality Company at 5258 W. Pico Boulevard on July 3, 1923.

eBay (found several months ago)

They remind me of the group of workers in Hoss's USC video from yesterday. (even though this is over 10 years earlier)

Here's a better look at the sign in the background.

And a board with prices(?)

The writing on the back is in Spanish.

If anyone wants to translate it feel free. (my Spanish leaves a lot to be desired) -that, and I don't know what "la Hagua" means.

Last but not least, a closer look at some of the workers.

This is from the 1892 book I found on eBay yesterday.

"Calla Lily Hedge in Second Street Park. -in Winter"

So which park was considered 2nd St. Park in 1892?

Here's the whole page.

That's a nice fence and gate on the property across from city hall--------------------------------------->

The final word is "Agua." "This group * something, something* of the water company."

Yesterday we had recreation from Julius Shulman. Today, it's administration. This is "Job 3258: Flewelling and Moody, District Administration Building (West Covina, Calif.), 1961".

It looks like the building had an enclosed courtyard.

I think that's the main entrance on the right.

All from Getty Research Institute

The District Administration Building is still standing at 1717 W Merced Avenue, West Covina. I'm not sure if the decorative walls are original - the sides are hidden by bushes in the original picture. I can't see the courtyard on the overhead view.

I love the cause and effect on NLA at times!

E_R, your after-thought led to this:

Thanks for connecting that storm to the 1949 snowfall, HH! It makes that photo all the more interesting!

And Lomara! What a find! This is the first actual footage I've seen of the famous 1949 snowfall! In color, no less.

Would a photo book of Los Angeles in the snow be anything buyers would be interested in?

I can't quite place these two palms. Were they near school property?

Doubly my category ("trees" and "missions"): We're looking towards Mission San Fernando Rey--its convento building, to be precise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conven..._San_Fernando) . And you already know that they're Washingtonia filifera (California Fan Palm) rather than Washingtonia robusta (Mexican Fan Palm). LAHS students must have gone to San Fernando on a field trip!

I thought I'd look for a couple snow pictures that we haven't seen on NLA before.
If these were posted previously, I didn't find them.
Source: LAPL

Caption: January 11, 1949. This is a scene in La Crescenta where several inches of snow were recorded. Pat Bradley brought out her skis to enjoy this rare experience in the Southland.

In deference to the Lomara's Downey citrus producer: January 5, 1949. "W. Terzenbach of 6226 Beck Ave., North Hollywood, inspects his ice covered lemon and orange trees. Ice formed on trees from spray Terzenbach left on over night to protect them from frost."

The Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, "where the sunshine spends the winter," is covered with snow on January 11, 1949.

Los Angeles Snowball Fight, January 12, 1949.

Exterior of Clark Gable's residence, located at 4525 Petit Avenue in Encino, shown after a snowstorm. Photograph dated January 18, 1949. (A side note says: The address of this home is now 4543 Tara Drive.) Heh, Tara!

Glendale, early January 11, 1949, taken from Arcadia Hills.

Thanks for those pics, Martin Pal! Very seasonal as well as historical. And yes, this thread has pinballed into some very interesting places as so often happens at NLA.
