I wrote an article on this for my blog, as I'm now a Fordham alumni.

http://newyorkyimby.blogspot.com/201...-on-track.html

Quote:
While most of the development activity in Manhattan is occurring either in Midtown or Downtown, Fordham's ambitious expansion plan is also moving forward. Currently, Fordham's Lincoln Center campus only has two buildings. The expansion will increase the size of Fordham's campus dramatically, by approximately 1.5 million square feet. While the plan features eight new buildings, two of those will be apartment buildings rather than university space, and will be used by Fordham to help pay for the development.
Will take some pictures soon as well, as I still have friends in the dorms who have great views of the new construction. Not-so-great is all the noise that's coming with it! It'll also be interesting to see if Glenwood's development gets underway this month...

Zell's tower that will rise on Amsterdam is yet another project that will rise in this immediate area.

Fordham Ready to Lay Down the Law on Lincoln Center

Wednesday, January 19, 2011, by Joey Arak

Undergrads can heckle snooty opera attendees from their windows.

How the new building fits in with its surroundings.

It'll probably get moved once someone gets pictures of the new steel.

Today:

Picture from me. More at my blog.

http://newyorkyimby.blogspot.com/201...struction.html

There's also a sidewalk shed about to be erected on 62nd/Amsterdam, and excavation equipment is on the corner--it looks like ground has or is about to be broken on Glenwood's apartment tower. Crazy activity in such a small area--within a few blocks we have Fordham's expansion, the new Marriott, 255 W 55th, 225 W 57th, and One 57.

That particular piece of development is under construction.

Ah, did not see, and thanks! I guess more pertinent to this thread would be the info re: the Glenwood tower... it should be rising shortly!

Finally visible progress on Glenwood's tower... yet another 500'+ rising in NYC... can we create a new thread for this? I think this could be above ground-level by summer... they are working on excavation very quickly and the base should be simple enough.

Did a quick search and that tower is apparently set to be 54 stories, but this is the last render we've seen right? Render from Curbed:

I don't know where that rendering is from, but that isn't this project. It's a different site.

There are actually two roughly 600-foot towers starting construction on this Fordham block (in addition to the law school tower). I believe Glenwood is developing both, though they're on different schedules.

I'm pretty sure its The Edge in Williamsburg, BK in a bad photoshop job. I don't think anyone has seen a proper render of this one, other than a massing showing in the ULURP documents.

The 598' tower's foundation is complete, this should have its own thread. Should be above ground in a month or two.
