Mill Creek Residential buys site and snares loan for Dadeland apartments

Quote:
An affiliate of Mill Creek Residential purchased an older apartment complex in Miami-Dade County's Dadeland area and secured a big loan to replace it with a much larger residential complex.

Les Chalet Investments, a Miami-based company led by Tomas Cabrerizo, sold the 145-unit apartment complex at 8215 S.W. 72nd Ave. for $26 million in two transactions. It was built in 1967 and its days are coming to an end.

Metro Dadeland, the Mill Creek Residential affiliate that bought the property, received two construction loans from SunTrust Bank totaling $77 million. It recently started construction of 422 high-rise apartments in 25 stories.

wow, i really like this project. the varying heights, widths, lines, and balconies of the building give it a unique form.

Not a insult to Orlando but a 650 foot ferris wheel right on our bayfront would ruin the skyline views along with that other hideous project SkyRise Miami. I can hear the nimbys who live along the Biscayne wall of skyscrapers opposing this already.

Bobdreamz,

Do you think the wheel has a good chance of happening?

It looks like financing wise the developer seems confident, and has some support from politicians.

This would be the tallest in the world; eclipsing the New York Wheel. Although Dubai is planning one that's 20 feet taller, but still very impressive.

Wheel, wise, I believe the U.S. will hold the title of the 3 tallest. The one in Vegas, NYC, and Miami. Assuming the Mid Eastern Wheel doesn't become a reality. Roller Coaster wise, Orlando will dominate that category. 700 foot tower containing it.

If you look at the rendering above that is the same ship channel that Beckham
was seeking approval to fill in and build his Soccer stadium on and his plan was rejected. Even if some politicians support this they would need state approval for this since the bottom of the channel is full of sensitive sea grass beds that could be destroyed.
There was another project where a developer wanted to build one of the tallest flag poles in the US on just a corner of Museum Park and he has withdrawn his project. I seriously doubt this project will ever see the light of day.

I'm a lifelong Floridian, just moved away 18 months ago, but I never considered Florida overcrowded. Drive through the interior of Florida and you realize that Florida could probably accommodate a population of 40,000,000.

Yea Florida is huge. While looking at a map of the U.S., it might appear small, it is vast. Southern Florida isn't really overcrowded nor is central Florida. Like dale said, a quick drive fixes this notion. Lots of potential for the state. Now take this population and add it to NJ, and yea, its crowded.

East End Capital Could Be Developing Up to 1.4 Million Square Feet In Wynwood

Quote:
East End Capital could be developing up to 1.4 million square feet in Wynwood.

In October, East End paid $23.5 million for the property where Wynwood Central was planned at 215 and 227-339 Northwest 24th Street.

Brokers for the firm (SKH and Metro 1) had already been marketing a development called the Mega Building at 43-65 NW 23rd Street, on property that East End bought for $5.37 million earlier this year. The asking price is $50 triple net, and ‘only mega brands need apply.’

East End also bought another nearby property at 2214 North Miami Avenue in May for $4.715 million.

The developer’s website was recently updated with new renderings of what is planned in Wynwood. In total, East End has 1.4 million square feet of development rights in Wynwood. Of that amount, about 500,000 square feet is in active pre-development with initial ground breaking expected by 2016.

Miami commission OKs millions in subsidies to Worldcenter developers

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/loca...le5151093.html

Quote:
The 5-0 vote came during a rare, middle-of-the-holidays meeting of the city commission, sitting as the board of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency, in a packed community room at Camillus House. The unusual timing was prompted by what the project’s developers say were pressing contractual and financial deadlines.

Miami Masterplan 2025:

http://www.miamidda.com/pdf/DDA_Master_Plan_2009_LR.pdf

Lengthy pdf, but very informative. See how far we have gotten since the 2009 inception. 2015 will be a bright year for the region. Many of the projects labeled "mega developments" will start at full steam ahead for the skies.

Can someone explain to me how all this super high end retail in wynwood makes sense? I don't get it. I've been there and it sure as hell isn't soho or 5th avenue.
