On top of everything else, it seems that while working on Dundonald, they decided to tear a strip off of Smythe street too, as I discovered last night. Granted, that section was rutting so badly it needed to be done. But as is, the only route up the hill NOT under construction right now is Hanwell (possibly the route that needs it the most). Oh and I suppose York isn't being touched at the moment too, but it gets the Priestman/Regent construction by proxy.

Council approves nighttime noise exemption request for new Fredericton hotel
Quote:
Fredericton city council has approved a nighttime noise exemption request for the new downtown hotel project on Queen Street.
Council held a special – and short – public meeting Tuesday afternoon to consider the exemption, which will run from Aug. 18 to Aug. 29.
Ken Forrest, the city's growth and community services director, says the contractor needs to perform two large concrete pours to get the foundation in place.
"That requires them to pour over a significant period of time," Forrest says. "It's a longer pour than the amount of time that's allowed in a single day to undertake construction in the city."
"Once it starts, they can't stop until it's finished."
A staff report to council says the raft slab foundation needs to be constructed in two separate sections.
Each section must have a continuous pour and finish and will take about 24 hours to complete.
The staff report indicates the contractor plans to start work at 6 p.m. on Aug. 18 and Aug. 23, though Forrest says that depends on the weather.
"You can't pour concrete in the rain, and the temperature has to be a very certain level," Forrest says.
Forrest says noise won't be a significant issue with this phase of the work.
City council formally approved an agreement with Vancouver-based Aquilini Properties to build a new $20-million hotel last September.
The eight-storey Hilton Garden Inn, which will be attached to the Fredericton Convention Centre, is slated to open in late 2017.

Finally, just an observation, but it looks like the Wilmot Park splash pad won't hit the mid-August completion. They were pouring yesterday, but they still have 1 or 2 slabs left to complete by the looks of it, and the rain certainly isn't helping. Still, they do seem to be doing some of the final plantings and beautification stages on what they can do. The shades are up and plastic is off of the pillars.
