Well, I believe only 8 other politicians in the country have more constituents than Nenshi.

Ford - Toronto
Whats his face - Montreal
Wynne - Ontario
Marois - Quebec
Clarke - BC
Redford - Alberta
Selinger - Manitoba
Harper - Canada

That's pretty impressive. Not to mention, he is by far the most positive and popular social media personality in Canadian politics, period.

Never heard of them. It's possible they have more importance, but not a higher profile.

Actually, Whats his face resigned after a corruption fiasco. Whats his name is now in power.

and Manitoba won't be in the list in a year or so. Pretty crazy.

Banking in Canada is prime for a new entrant and more competition. If that is going to happen anywhere it will happen in Calgary with all the money, investment, and economic prospects.

Premiers and the PM's constituents are only in their ridings, as the rest of us who live outside of them do not directly vote for them. And I don't think that Peel and York have more people than Calgary. That would make Nenshi the 3rd highest for direct voting.

Toronto is the established centre of commerce with 4 to 5 times the population, 3 to 4 times the real gdp and quick access to world markets in NYC. It would be an uphill battle. Any home grown bank would be bought out by the big five the second it becomes viable competition. Any foreign bank establishing a Canadian head office would like choose Toronto for the reason above as well as Toronto being cheaper overall to setup shop. A country this spread out needs large regional head offices though

Calgary could potentially steal the NBC from Montreal? I doubt it though. Wouldn't do much anyways.

Edmonton is the headquarters of CWB, which is the 10th largest bank in the country, and appears to be growing fast.

Any new well funded bank backed by deep pockets would likely not accept being acquired at a low valuation for a quick exit. The investment atmosphere in Calgary is prime for a bank to manage wealth and resources for the trillions in capital which will be flowing through the province over the next few years.

The problem with Toronto is exactly that the region is already well covered by the big five.

The whole nation is well covered by the big five which is a primary reason the big five are inheriting huge debt loads as they push for legitimacy southwards.

Seriously, trillions.

ING Direct gave ti a try here, and ended up getting bought by Scotia Bank.

Calgary ranked "Cleanest City in the World
TOP 10 CLEANEST CITIES IN THE WORLD

Quote:
The city that is on the top of the list of top ten cleanest cities in the world is Calgary of Canada. It is a remarkable city that is situated between the Rocky Mountains and the Savanna of Canada. The Bow and Elbow are the two major rivers that run through this city and guarantee the humidity in the climate of that area. It has been consecutively ranked in the top three of Mercer Global Financial and HR consulting’s world’s cleanest cities for the last five years.
