Angry

The greatest cluster of cranes DT has once again shifted to the West End. It would have been cool to see the southeast section/Rainey Street District simultaneously rival it but alas... no Waller Park Place. At least we have the other projects that are moving forward along with the Fairmont.

Also, all 8 of the Med Center cranes are down. Those along with the other U.T. cranes was the most awesome tower crane cluster in Austin's history IMO.

So, little digging, small footprint, two cranes, once the foundation is poured and set, this will go up pretty quick. Since it does have a smallish footprint simular to the Spring, I'm curious to see if that diminishes the dramatic effect on the overall skyline I'm hoping for, once its top out.

I know that the podium that pops out to the right is within a CVC but surely they could have a rooftop garden like 360 has on two levels. Even a grass lawn would be better if they can't have trees. Just seems like space that could be utilized rather than leaving it a concrete roof.

Yeah, ewwww, lost opportunity if they just left it that way. It would make a nice park for the residents, with plants, flower boxes, benches, glass railing along the edges. Maybe its in the future plans.

I agree - even if not trees, several shorter plants are likely possible, and some sort of terrace with planters is certainly called for in this case. A lawn would be better as it wouldn't reflect the heat as much.

Edit: Other than that, I think these renderings are great. Excited for this one to be finished!

The renders are great and I realize they are keeping the landscaping natural, but to this old fart it looks like they need to mow their dang grass.

Also, bicycle is melting into the sidewalk on the right side.

That's funny. The developers are forecasting an intense heatwave in 2018

And the banks of Shoal Creek are depicted as finely-manicured unnatural landscapes akin to a golf course. It's not adding up, I don't think much of this is accurate but it's lovely nonetheless. I mean, come on, south- and west-facing green/living walls on the parking podium? I'm not buying that for a second. I sure hope it happens, but we shouldn't get our hopes up for a lush vertical landscape on surfaces that easily exceed 110 F on any sunny summer day. And then there are the freezes. Gardening in central Texas is not for the faint of heart.

Surprised the arches on the bridge there aren't painted yellow.

I know, just putting out might as well paint them all yellow, Pittsburg does.
