Yes, just like you take the Northwest Tollway to go shop at Woodfield, or if you want to stay closer to home, go to the vertical mall at 900 North Pine.

Renamings are actually as old as Chicago itself, and usually they are done to score cheap political points even if they screw up the legibility of the city. What gets me is that renamings now are always done using full names and not last names - I don't have the attention span to get off the Rock Island at the 35th St/Lovana S. "Lou" Jones/Bronzeville station. Seriously, why not just call it Jones? I don't have a problem with arbitrary names as long as they're short and memorable.

Yes -- And it is right across the street from McCormick Place (King Drive is 400 East): http://bit.ly/1x13Iwd

Ok I thought they were doing something to the 35th Street Station that I was unaware of.

Outside of the auto show, for which there are shuttle buses galore, that isn't even remotely the demographic that is heading toward the eastern parts of McCormick Place.

It will be immensely popular with the exhibitors who want a cheap way to get to the nightlife.

and the darn thing is so close to the red line.

I wonder if it would make sense to re-route the orange line away from 18th str. to 22nd/cermak; where a new orange station would make a connection possible with the green and red line(s) there. would be convenient for midway/convention access.

There are lots and lots of people who work there, and vendors who provide various services. If I were going there to take a service call (which I did for years) -- I sure wouldn't be walking almost 4 blocks there, and back after. I would drive.

There are also going to be thousands of construction workers coming into the area daily for the new DePaul Arena, and the Lucas Museum; they will drive too!

DePaul games - isn't DePaul U on the red line ?

It sounded like DePaul would most likely be running shuttles between games and the campus.

I do think it would be nicer if the new green line stop were a little closer to McCormick. I'd bet that larger trade shows would have shuttle buses picking people up there. A circular streetcar route between the 2 Cermak stations and McCormick would certainly spice up the place as well.
