They were chosen to do the evaluation and planning for the property back in July last year. It is long over due considering they were given 6 months. I understand the CrossPlex is quite successful with a number of impressive events on the horizon.

more good news for parkside. kinda wish this building was being torn down and replaced with something a little denser/taller, but at least based on the renderings, you can't really tell that it was an old bakery/factory...

I'm kinda bummed, too. But at the same time, building a taller building here would obscure the good view you have from I65 of the BIRMINGHAM sign on Regions Field.

Eh, it was bound to happen at some point. I'd have been surprised if every single one of these went through.

^ not to mention it was more than offset by the other announcement today.

still, I hope this property is eventually developed into apartments/condos. I think it would be cool to see mid- to high-rises circling the outfield of regions field.

It will be, the area is too hot to not be bought up.

^ the article seems to imply that the current owner will hold on to the property and pursue a different type of (smaller) development.

I swear if the owner of the property does that, I'm going to blow a fuse. We need to be looking at nashville for example. But im still kind of skeptical if birmingham's market can support some of the projects that size.

I think they'll end up selling it. It makes more sense now to just hang on to it and let the value go up. Inevitably someone who doesn't need government money will come along and want to develop that property.
