Thanks! As I’ve said previously, I wish this tower would have been more interesting on the sides most of us see. It’s clearly oriented toward the Bay Bridge.

Now, if we could finally get the height corrected...!!

7/02/18 from the Folsom side, smoke from the wildfires still affecting the air.

Nice. A little bit of 1980's Dallas style skycraper in the SF skyline. Very nice. I like it a lot.

Phillip Johnson was the architect of his day when it came to glass boxes...

Instead of looking to Dallas, one need only look down the street.

The wonderful "glass boxes" architect, Phillip Johnson,
did a amazing job in the 1980's with 101 California.

IMHO, previous versions of Transbay 8 (The Avery) were much more interesting. Yet, once again, the developer wins the contest and then waters down the design.

A previous proposal...close the the one we got.

I was hoping this watered down version would have made it.
At least the accents of the north and south sides continued all
the way up and down the entire tower.

I assume you're referring to Bank of America Plaza? I grew up in Dallas, and I have to admit, I didn't even think of that until you mentioned it. It has some similarities, though lacks the lighting that BoA has.

I was talking to a sales guy at the building and he mentioned they have LOIs out for every single retail space. He mentioned that the developer has really tried to cultivate a variety of uses. This could all just be a sales pitch but I found it promising for the city's vision of Folsom to be a true retail/dining destination and not just a Philz Coffee as it is now. Because all you need is one developer to knock it out of the park, and then Block 9/Solaire (still empty retail slots)/Jeanne Gang tower will have it easy as other brands and restauranteurs try to get in on the action.

2 more floors left on the top as of 7/16/2018. Probably fully framed end of next week?

Exactly...the side that faces the City and the one most of us living here see, just like 45 Lansing and the Westin St. Francis tower (the worst of the worst). I’m hoping beyond hope that the back/western side of Oceanwide Center looks good, since it’s premier side will also be facing the bay.

Start calling it the "Wailing Wall".*

The Western Wall, Wailing Wall, or Kotel, known in Islam as the Buraq Wall, is an ancient limestone wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is a relatively small segment of a far longer ancient retaining wall, known also in its entirety as the "Western Wall".

The top floor of cladding is going up on the North side today.

The west side is mostly going to be covered up by 500 Folsom, I don't think its a big deal personally. From 1st street it looks very sleek and very tall since it is up a hill from the SF Transit Center.

Best image I could find:

Yes fimiak, you are correct and I agree--let's hope that 500 Folsom turns out well.

As far as being tall and sleek, can we please get the height corrected on this thread?
