I don't think the tower has rose-coloured windows or spandrels, but rather reflections from pinkish orange hazey air due to the annual forest fires happening around.

It looks really good. The restaurant on the 16th floor could be interesting, and the podium has some serious potential. This just might be the nicest tower ever proposed in Kelowna.

Excellent news. I thought this project was either dead or about to be seriously watered down...I did not expect that it would come back revised and better than originally proposed.

I see a lot of the facade is vertical cedar planks. A very unique look for a building this scale and I like it, just curious about how well that cedar will age after years of weather. Overall, I give it a B+ on design and concept. Would have liked to see more residential units over hotel rooms and an even more unique design. But still an improvement over the original design.

Love it!!

I was always worried after the long absence of news.

I really hope this is approved and moves forward, it has the potential to be a real game changer for Kelowna.

PS, I was in Kelwona this month but only for a single afternoon, my trip was a whirlwind...

^ I hear ya, but for me it was the opposite; I didn't spend much time in Vancouver, but I was in Kelowna for a good chunk of the two months I was back.

I had a fantastic summer in the Okanagan. Back to Shanghai tomorrow :\

Smoke or no smoke, the weather was amazing!

I travelled all over the province.

Every day was sunny, warm (hot in the interior) and dry. The only rain was for about an hour one night when I was staying in New West (and even that was warm and had the strongest summer rain smell I have ever experienced. Noticed it while sitting in the house).

I bought a new camera for my trip (a Canon 80D) along with a telephoto lense. I took thousands of pics and videos. Just got home in Japan today so I am now starting the editing. There will be a massive wave of photo posts coming from me very soon

Enjoy your trip back to Shanghai.

Think under-maintained sauna, and you'll get a good idea.

I know that I asked this in another thread but wouldn't this building be the new tallest outside of metro Van?

Either this proposal or One Water Street, as the taller tower of that development I believe reaches 32 stories.

One water Street is 27 and 36 storey towers. Still not sure which building would be taller between the 36 storey of that development or the 32 storey hotel/luxury condo tower. Would be similar.

OK you locals: someone with a telephoto needs to hike up some of those hills and post the beautiful pictures that show everyone the lay of the land: where the new projects are going up or going to be, and the general built structure of the city. Kelowna needs some exposure. It is too big, with too much going on, to be such a mystery to so many of us. It puzzles me why there are so few good pictures of this city. Nanaimo, Prince George, Kamloops . . . all better covered. I appreciate the graphic work done by kev_427 a few pages back, but some actual sharp photography would be great. Aerials would be a dream.

They actually approved it? Really? Kelowna city council approved this thing? I never expected that.
