That front entrance/restaurant/amenity floors glass is going to look so impressive lit up^^. Especially driving south on lsd or walking the riverwalk across the way.

I hope that is true but I don't think it will be covered. Maybe in the future they might modify the building but as of now I doubt it. Sort of like a flaw in a otherwise stunning building. That and the blow thru floor.

That would mean they'd have to swing stage the entire building if they were to install glass on the outside and it looks like they already removed that equipment. I hope so but it is unlikely.

yep, i'd wager that those vertically louvered black panels are the finished look here.

^ I agree, those do not look to be temporary. I would like to know the Architect's thought process here. Your standard horizontal louvers would have at least reflected some light to appear less black. Gray would have been better. These "pin stripe", jet black vertical louvers are like a black hole with regard to light absorption.

Going by the other nearby high-rise her crew designed, I would hazard a guess - honesty - form follows function, and appearance follows form.

Hence no faux railings for the mech floor on Aqua, and vents that are vents here. Personally I like the effect.

Didn't someone from Studio Gang comment on here in the past saying they originally designed glass mechanical floors but it was VE'd by the developer or am I misremembering?

I mean, this axiom kind of presupposes that the broader building design is a result of similar thinking. But this building has been racking up quite a few details where function has very much been grafted onto a predetermined form.

If they covered the vents with glass, then wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the vents venting? That's for sure the final look.

hmm not sure...really how much cost would it be for some more glass on a few extra sections? ...i cant see it being VE'ed for that... i just dont like the upper portion that just stops halfway through..i dont mind the "vent" look per say just that it looks incomplete though

Picture taken today from a friend of mine from 80th floor of AON. Also I drove north on Lakeshore today and the mechanical louvers don't look that bad. I think once the building is complete nobody will notice but us.

Are the lava lamp looking glass panels along the front amenity floors going all the way down to upper wacker or are they going to be straight rectangular torwards the bottom below the framing that already have installed.
