It looks naked without a spire. Something is better than nothing.

Yeah true. I'm not that great at editing things to make a photo realistic spire.

4 billion $

someone could explain me why 1WTC is expected to cost around 4 billion of dollars ????

burj khalifa is two times taller and needed two times the amount of materials, but it costed only one billion....

Burj Khalifa was built with workers that were one step above slave labor. Freedom Tower is being built in the USA, where all the workers make a living wage in the wealthiest nation on the planet. That is only one of many reasons.

Also it isn't sitting on top of a subway station, and it isn't part of a massive complex of buildings. There is no way you can compare the two.

NY: high wages (up to $40 / hour), union workers, politics, bureaucracy, safety measures, expensive / quality materials, transit system etc. etc.

Also, 1WTC is an office building that will eventually fill up with very successful businesses that pay top rents. 1WTC will eventually be paid off, even if it takes 30 years. Burj Khalifa in Dubai is not going to fetch the space nor the rents that 1WTC will. Most likely, the Burj Dubai will never be paid off from rental income inside the building. This is fine since the purpose of the tower is to be an external showcase of oil wealth with minimal occupancy, not a thriving office tower like 1WTC and the WTC site.

^ Well, enough about that. This is no ordinary building and a lot of expense went into the security. There is no comparison of the two, except that they are both tall buildings.

The higher the glass rises, the higher the tower seems to get.

I love looking at these photos. We'll get even more of these shots tomorrow when the Enterprise makes its way to the Intrepid...

Lots of columns and beams for 104 and 105 40' columns here! The corners don't meet at the roof as per pictures on SSC.
