H-E-B buys land in Upper Kirby for new mixed-use project

Quote:
H-E-B plans to develop a new mixed-use project with Midway in Upper Kirby.

The San Antonio-based grocer purchased 3.8 acres on the northwest corner of West Alabama and Kirby for the yet-to-be-announced project. Financial terms of the acquisition, which closed January 17, were not disclosed.

The vacant parcel, formerly the site of the Kirby Court apartments and A.D. Players Theater, sits across from a Whole Foods Market and Bed Bath and Beyond. It is near Gables' West Ave mixed-use development, Hanover's Upper Kirby apartment project and Stolz Partners' Giorgetti luxury condo project.

Dosch Marshall Real Estate, a Houston land brokerage led by co-principals Tim Dosch, David Marshall and Tom Dosch, represented the seller, an undisclosed local family with real estate holdings in the area. Baker Katz, a Houston retail brokerage, represented H-E-B.

A Midway spokeswoman said the developer does not have anything to share about H-E-B at this time.
