jeddy1989 is visiting Old Town MTL today with his man. They've been there a couple of days. The biggest surprises thus far:

- The metro is on wheels and very quiet.
- They've only witnessed limited French in passing convos, etc. Jeddy estimates about 70% of everything they've encountered/overheard is English.
- Everyone is giving them, "You're just here for no reason? At this time of year?" and they're like, "Umm... it's MTL, it's fine."

If they were surprised that the Metro runs on tires, they really haven't been paying enough Canadian urban attention!

New "Oh wow!"s:

- Jeddy had to ask Ayreonaut if there's anything going on in sports right now because the Colombians in Montreal have gone mad - flags, etc., everywhere. Turns out everything in sports is happening right now.
- The gay bar they went to has a latin night. Jeddy is fluent in Spanish (went to uni in Venezuela/Chile). I told him he has a civic duty to convince all the Colombians that all Newfoundlanders are fluent in Spanish, try to get us a few more immigrants.
- Everything is cool and fun.

Still a landmark though! You're right of course and indeed the whole area does lack the panache that it once had

I walked by Foufounes a few weeks ago and was surprised it was still open.

My kids got a big kick out of the name!
