As a fan of mid-century modern architecture, I do like the Century Plaza hotel. I actually stayed there when I was in LA last year and found it to be a nice place to stay. I could relatively easily hop on the Santa Monica or Olympic buses to travel to the coast, WeHo, downtown, etc... To me, the two proposed towers, while not necessarily bad, don't represent anything of unique architectural value. But I'm still always in favor of more density, particularly in an area where a subway station is going to be built. So I must say I do very much like the backside placement of the two glass high-rises at either end of the Century Plaza. From Avenue of the Stars, they sort of frame the building, providing a somewhat cool juxtaposition of classic mid-century modern with current modern glassy.

tottaly agree this is what id call very good city planning and efficient use of space and those towers look beautiful.

Believe it or not, there are not a lot of surface lots in Century City. Just a lot of large plaza's which gives Century City a very 'vast' feeling. Not to mention it's extremely wide streets.

Nice to know the Developers agreed to save the Hotel for the Preservationists, and for the Developers to be able to build their towers in the back.

What i'm really excited about is the subway portal on the lower right part of the rendering. When the Purple Line reaches this area, Century City will finally be connected to the rest of LA by something other than roads.

I can't believe how symmetrical Century City is becoming, it's really quite beautiful and unique. I love how the new towers and hotel directly mirror the Century Plaza twin towers and 2000 Avenue of the Stars across the street. Exciting stuff!
