The proposed alignment is one Atlanta block (3 min walk) from both a north south station and east west station. Seems like good connectivity to me. It also touches the Beltline.

I think the Summerhill townhome development will eventually extend to Hank Aaron. It has 3 phases. The Trammel Crow apts would be on the big parking lot south of your pin. I could be wrong though.

The restaurant will be located within the 11,000-square-foot second phase of Carter’s Georgia Avenue redevelopment project, set to break ground this month.

Any word on when they’ll break ground on the retail at the NE corner of GEORGIA and Reed?

There are tree removal posting on the lot and given that 2 spaces are already leased and I would say it’s very soon. There were several engineering/construction guys walking the temp parking lot this morning making notes.

In the article above on the Maepole restaurant, they were expecting to break ground in January. Probably as soon as possible.

That’s be great. I was there this weekend and was still used as seemingly free public parking.

They have to get through permitting first. The land development permit still has a ways to go but for a project of this size, it shouldn't take more than a few weeks.

Aloft hotel and more retail unveiled for Summerhill

Replacing surface parking in the neighborhood, the hotel would also feature roughly 11,000 square feet of retail space at its base, Stafford’s executive director of real estate Melissa Varnadoe told Curbed.

She said Stafford isn’t ready to announce retail tenants, but future guests can expect another restaurant to join Georgia Avenue’s growing slate of eating and drinking options.

Sweet! It’d be nice if they did the retail curved with the street, but all the details look great. Wish they’d go ahead and start ASAP so all the construction on the west side of Hank Aaron would wrap simultaneously.

This is an improvement from the original plan for the hotel.

Yes! That is the one part of the plan that I didn't care for. Love it!

Looks to be a nice addition to the area. I’m hoping for more apartments or condos south as well as to the east of all this development to help support all the new retail and incoming transit line. Definitely a hot area in the city and want to see development connect between the Capitol and the SST.

Looks like a hotel that belongs along interstate 75 near Macon and some Fuqua single story retail- minus the surface parking. Not what I want to see for Atlanta

Needs to be At least partially brick or another exterior color than that bold & bright white. Most aloft’s in the U.S. look similar to this minus the art on the corners. But seems they’d want it to fit in more with the architectural styles more prevalent in the neighborhood, or even more specifically, the new residential development by Carter which it will share a parking garage. Hoping for some refinements before the final design. I do like that they’ve incorporated some commercial space on the corner instead of parking. That is a win.

Hotels along I-75 near Macon have street-fronting retail in a walkable neighborhood?

Yes the hotel building itself is typical for the hotel brand.   But even there, they are attempting to add some elements to make it specific to the neighborhood.  Based on the diagrams above, they are designing the retail to be more in line with the one-story retail that already exists on GA Ave which has zero in common with Fuqua. I'll take that kind of attention to the street level all day, errday.
