I did, and I am on my second cup LOL. Stefano is a huge booster for downtown, but Timmerman is useless.

I've heard whispers that a pub chain not in Winnipeg yet is in talks to buy the whole Maw's Garage complex. That would currently be Citizen, Mazag, and the parking lot. Apparently it's someone with deep pockets that loves the possibility of a 3 season patio in the parking lot.

This is actually purchasing the building, not just a lease. The current lease agreements only require 6 months notice to void.

I'd love if they sandblasted the exterior to reveal the original brick. I don't think there's any pictures of it pre-painting that aren't black and white - anyone know what kind of stone it is?

I seem to recall Ma's Garage is tied to the Travelers Bldg and the condos in it..

Just don't see it as anything other than parking...

Different building owners. There have been people in the past who have tried to have events in there (including myself) but the city denied it because the residents in that building are insanely vocal.

The city also told me that it was "unsafe" to have an event in there because of the holes in the roof. But I guess it's ok to be in there while parking...

It is a shame the owners will not repair the roof or do any work on the facade...

The title is clouded somewhat as well if I recall correctly.

I think the issue is that it's essentially no more than a bandstand right now. No insulation, floor is gravel, etc., but it's a historical building so without likely millions in investment to turn it back to an actual building – if you put money in to fix it up in its current form, you're still investing a ton of money into a 16-car parking lot. Makes no business sense.

But, combine that in with a restoration of the entire complex, and it's a bit more doable.

I found out that Urban Sparq (The Pint) bought and sat on their current building for 2 years before redevelopment. They waited for the right time – and once they did it, they spent another 2 years and close to 3 million dollars on the renos. So it was $3mil and 4 years to open that place, they wanted to do it right.

Great potential to compliment King's Head. This area should be a Hell of a lot more vibrant with so many post-secondary students in the vicinity. More housing is needed.

The roof was fixed a couple years ago wasn't it?

That would be an amazing development. I hope it's true!!!

I guess it's not insane considering the fees include: Heat, Hot Water, Hydro, Insurance-Common Area, Landscaping/Snow Removal, Management, Water.
No repairs being done. The costs you mentioned are included (the water bill alone for the year would give you vertigo), and the new Condo Act which mandates contributions to reserve fund.

Anyone have an update or news on the James Ave/Waterfront pump house development?
I see they've moved the limestone piles in to one mound at the end of the lot from whatever "artsy" project that was supposed to be.

Who's the developer on this?
Is there a construction schedule? When might these go on sale?
