Taken from 7th floor balcony so just above tree-top height.

I think it’s the best if the Garden will provide some form of loyalty/membership program, instead of entrance fee for every visit, if it will not be free. I think especially in the winter, this place will be a frequent visit for many people, so such a program will work better. Won’t it be a Winnipeg’ new trend to escape from the cold of winter times in the Garden after its completion?

Maybe a yearly membership bundled with the Assiniboine Park Zoo?

This is what I was thinking... even a dual admission and you can hop on the train to get between both.

No recent updates, so grabbed a long distance shot this frosty morning. Not much visible progress with the central tower portion for quite some time.

Agreed, it should fill in that hole in the skyline that extends from the edge of downtown to the west perimeter quite nicely.

This Park s becoming one for the rich. I don't think the original planners in the early 20th century would have approved.

Well the individual amenities are expensive but the park itself is still great to walk around in. You can get into the sculpture garden for free still. In a lot of ways Assiniboine park reminds me of the Englischer Garten in Munich (I only wish it had the beer gardens to match).

I think it's ok to charge admission to amenities within the park as long as the park itself remains accessible for free

That’s like being able to walk around a college campus without taking a course.

^ Haha... "I went to Harvard! (to eat my lunch!)"

It is true, accessibility is an issue. But at the same time, it's hard to have anything truly nice when you aren't generating any revenue.

There was a time when we had nice things and revenues were raised through progressive taxation. Our elites in North America eventually put an end to that.

Well it feels like every tax keeps getting raised (except the pst) so I dont feel as though this is really an argument. It's not like progressive taxation ceased to exist btw, I think we just might be more ambitious and wasteful with that money.
