wow just found this thread

Wishlist. I like it. Here are my pie in the sky contributions.

I'd love to see Goose Island go from industrial wasteland to something akin to Lake Shore East on steroids.
Mass transit access to LSE. Streeterville, Museum Campus/Solider Field.
Burying the train lines slicing through Grant Park and the South Loop.
Finish the Riverwalk.
Redo Navy Pier to the max.
High Speed Rail connectivity to Detroit, StL, Milwaukee, Toronto
Complete gut renovation (except the Great Hall) of Union Station, conversion to Midwest HSR hub
Completion of Block 37 superstation, Ohare/Midway HSR access, check in/bags the whole 9 yards.
(I'm going to get flamed for this one) More buildings east of LSD. Particularly, where the Jardine Water Plan is. My reasoning? The water plant is a complete eyesore when looking out onto the lake. Also, "views aren't guaranteed" shouldn't be subjective. Other spots I'd consider. McCormick Place East parking lot, hell, McCormick Place East the whole thing. Dusable Park.
Burying LSD from Randolph to Roosevelt.
More bridges over Colombus a la BP Ped Bridge, better interconnecting the parks.
A lot more political power to preservation groups.
A lot less political power to aldermen.
Raze the General Growth building and build something incredible.
Raze the East Bank Club, never to return.
Cap the Kennedy
Bury the at grade east/west train lines chopping up areas like K Station.
The creation of a Design/Architecture city council cabinet/think tank, staffed by people with design and architecture background and impeccable taste. Their function, to set standards for architecture, to preserve buildings of significance/beauty. To brainstorm civic improvements. To research what other global cities (or small cities for that matter) are doing to innovate and adapt/improve upon those ideas if applicable. This cabinet would be ran by me, naturally.
Open more Chicago tourism/promotion offices overseas.
Get serious about corruption.
Get serious about violence.
Get serious about education.
