New UofR Residence Twin Towers | Regina | 12 floors | UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Might as well start a thread on this one as I see PCL signage has gone up around campus providing arrows to help crews find their way (I guess?).

So, I've always wondered, do these types of development count as housing starts for the city or not?

Yeah, seems that Regina has adopted an old Soviet Union theme here by building towers in groups of 2,3,4 and on and on. Really creative. I guess it saves on architect fees when you can just haul out the old plans and deja vu all over again. makes for a boring landscape in shades of gray.

OMG! They'll need to at least change the heights of subsequent towers in the future in order to mitigate the Soviet-style appearance.

I've been to an ex-Soviet state (Ukraine), and I know what you're talking about. However, the one advantage these buildings will have is that they will be more than solid monolithic blocks of concrete, haha.

Isn't this excavation? So wouldn't it be classified as under construction?

This is the first time I have posted images so i am not sure if it will work properly.

The first one is a shot the the Regina skyline from the 5th floor of Campion college at the University. The second one is a panorama of the new residence towers that are being constructed.

I have yet to see a good photo of this site so I thought I would take some.

I works, but they are a little big, next i should learn how to crush them down a bit.

You could either do it on your own in paint or some other editting program, or if you want to sign up to use imageshack.us, you can select a size to scale it to when you upload them. Thanks for the pics though.

I took this picture of the crane being assembled at the university last night. Construction seems to be advancing at a brisk pace.
