Someone familiar with the site and the glass operation let me know the "Podium" glass is a different contractor than the tower glass. That is why it is on a different schedule.

This is more disruptive than the blow-through floor... I hope this isn't final but sure looks like it.

Use imgur and link?

Side question--are they really letting that dark paneling on the south-facing side just stop halfway (as it looks horrible)?

It's anyone's guess at this point. It is universally hated on this forum.

Hi, that's a good question that I had to figure out when I first started as well. I use Flickr to upload my photos. Then you can "Share" the photos and from there it will give you an option of "BBCode" as the link. Once you do that you can just copy that BBCode and insert that into this forum and it should show up. Play around with the "Preview" option before posting and you should be good to go!

Ah okay great news! That (likely) means there is no trouble installing it and we will get it in due time

So if I have a picture (jpg file) on my PC and I want to insert it into a post in this forum, first I have to upload it to another internet site (e.g., Flickr) and then I can follow the rest of your directions.

There's no way to upload my picture directly to skyscraperpage.

Is this correct?

Correct, that is my understanding at least. I use Imgur.

I found this article from 2016, looks like it's based on preliminary design when the glass was angled instead of vertical. What about the colors changing based on temperature? Is that still a thing?

Can't read the article, but the temperature-change thing was almost certainly value-engineered out.

The glass went through a lot of changes. There were some installation issues (I'm sure others here could give you more detail). IMO the staggered effect ended up looking better than sloping the glass.

Not sure if this was posted already, but I found an article discussing what the blow-thru floor will look like when finished:

Quote:
Eventually, the engineers and Gang settled on the blow-through floor, but that raised still another problem: How would the floor look — like a gaping hole or an integral part of the design?

A rendering provided by Gang's firm, Chicago-based Studio Gang, shows that the blow-through floor appears to fit well with Vista's facade, which will consist of horizontal layers that step in and out. The floor will be a "horizontal strata just like the rest of the building," Gang said, adding that she is "very comfortable with the aesthetic."

To further weave the floor into the tower, vertical bands present on the rest of the facade will extend through the floor's exterior. While the floor's perimeter will be open, exposing the elevator core and structural columns to the air, several of the interior elements will be painted black to blend in with the tower during the day. At night, the blow-through floor will be unlit. For safety purposes, a railing will be installed along the facade. The floor isn't expected to be open to the building's residents.

Any rumors to who will operate the hotel? Wondering if Shangri-la could put their first US hotel in there. I'm staying at the one in Toronto soon - hopefully good!

"unlit"..That's a real bummer as the backlit blow through floors of 432 Park in NY make the building much more redeemable.
