City-owned land sold for development of four-story apartment building in Jackson

Quote:
The Jackson City Council approved the sale of a city-owned vacant lot on N. Blackstone Street between W. Pearl Street and W. Louis Glick Highway during its Aug. 15 city council meeting, paving the way for the construction of The Blackstone Apartments. he lot, sold to the Ohio-based company Pivotal for $400,000, is set to be the site of a four-story, 53-unit apartment building of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, with an early education center on the first floor.

The development is projected to be a $12.2-million investment in the City of Jackson, city spokesman Aaron Dimick said.

“As we rebuild Jackson with new housing, it’s important that we make downtown living affordable for people of all income levels and backgrounds,” Jackson City Manager Jonathan Greene said. “More people living downtown means further business opportunities and services the entire community can take advantage of.”

There is no current timeline for when construction will begin on the development.
